It's because he won't or can't recruit instate, sc is one of the best states to recruit baseball athletes.

We could hire Florida's head coach? He was the pitching coach here not too long ago. I think a head coaching job at Clemson would be winning the lottery compared to coaching at UF

Why would any sane person leave Fla and all the sunshine, beaches, and recruits to live a stones throw from the real "deliverance". You really need to get out and see the world. people live in Columbia is because of Bull Street and it is the capital of our beloved South Carolina. steve spurrier only came to usc was because it was just about the only job open at the time. He is a good coach no doubt but if another job was open in the SEC at that time and you all would still be bottom dewellers in the SEC
