an overlooked qb from back in the day - Homer

Dec 22, 2012, 7:55 AM

Homer Jordan does not get the respect he deserves in clemson history. he played a flawless game in the orange bowl in 81 and although in a predominant run offense they ran he was like phil simms who made the passes we needed, managed the game and never beat us and oh did he shine in the orange bowl. props to homer!!! and go tigers BEAT LSU!!!!!

I feel the same way about Rodney Williams. I loved watching

him roll to the left (right handed), rotate his shoulders parallel to the line, and make a throw down field. His hips and legs would be turned East while his shoulders were pointing North! He was also a pretty tough runner on that option.

He played hurt most of the time (I think at one point he had a broken collar bone). He never demanded the lime light and seemed genuinely embarassed when it came his way. He had more heart than any QB (I think) than we have ever had before or since. They may be better in talent, but certainly not in heart!

What a Great POST!!! I agree that Homer was a player! perhaps it is just me but while we have bigger, stronger, faster players now I am not sure that they play with the passion Jordan played with...Love post that deal with Old School Tigers and not calling for Clemson to fire someone.

Homer Jordan was the MVP of the most important athletic event in Clemson history ... Loved to watch him play.

I remember they did an article on him in Sports Illustrated that year. It was several pages long. I remember him saying he had to go to his neighbors house to get the man to tie his tie for him. He was a great player, but was very "shy" when it came to the media. He just got the job done on the field - sure miss those days!

overlooked? He's the only QB to take us to the promise land
