What’s the point of these games in college fb?

Sep 21, 2019, 8:31 PM

What if all of the good programs would just play each other? Would be so much more fun

You gotta have games like this to tune up for the rest of the season...

It would be more understandable if it was the first game of the season, not the fourth. But I get it.

Agree with your point. Hard to risk a loss when everyone

Sep 21, 2019, 8:33 PM

Else are playing crappy teams too. For uncc it’s a $1M payday. For us it’s a win, a warm up, a chance to rest some players.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

All the good teams do play each other...

Sep 21, 2019, 8:33 PM

It’s called the college football playoff.

... but I do see your point.

"I've played multiple sports and would bet any amount that I'm still more athletic than you at this present time...."

gives smaller teams a chance to compete up!

Sep 21, 2019, 8:33 PM

it's good for them and good for us

“poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.”

More home games for the hosting teams is one

Sep 21, 2019, 8:34 PM

Another is the money paid to smaller programs for showing up to play. Some of them would likely fold without the occasional Power 5 game check.

also, gives coots a chance to win a game***

I like the way it is. You dont need every game that brutal. Its perfect the way it is.

Then shorten the season. 10 games against power 5 teams only, no conference championship games. Award division winners by overall record and send them to a playoff.

Parity would increase because right now only a select few programs can pitch being able to play for a natty to a recruit.

And now a bunch of G5 and FCS teams fold up shop.

Sep 21, 2019, 8:43 PM

This is how the money funnels down. This is how FSU went from nobody to a national power, they played a bunch of games where they were overmatched on the road.

If it's not for you, cool, don't watch, but I wish people would stop agitating to change the greatest sport in the world.

Sep 21, 2019, 8:46 PM

The NFL is much more popular. College football is popular in the south that’s about it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

See? You already have a sport to watch.

Sep 21, 2019, 8:48 PM

If you want mediocre teams to have a shot at a championship, or every game to be a toss-up, go watch the NFL.

Sep 21, 2019, 8:36 PM

It’s stupid. College football needs a major overhaul from a scheduling standpoint and of course the postseason.

Re: What’s the point of these games in college fb?

Sep 21, 2019, 8:39 PM

AMEN. If they could force everyone to play only P5 or quality teams the season would be so much more fun.

You knew how this game would be....

when you got in the car. Shut up and enjoy it.

Go Tigers!

if all big schools quit scheduling the patsies then

Sep 21, 2019, 8:43 PM

they’d have to drop their football programs. The small schools only play these games for the payday. Without these games they couldn’t afford to run their athletic departments.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don’t know. Let’s ask Ga State and The Citadel.***
