throwing money around like it's the 1980's all over again. Again, not making any claims in the White recruitment, just relaying what has been said about UGA recruiting in general right now in high school coach circles.

You don't win that way, and certainly not over the long term. Either you get a situation like Ole Miss or Southern Cal where the NCAA burns you mostly to the ground and you spend 10 years (or more) recovering, or you wind up with a situation like Tennessee or LSU where the inmates largely run the asylum and your team winds up a shell of what its on-paper recruited talent says it should be doing.
Lack Of Institutional Control-level corruption - which I figured this particular case was, and have since been told pretty definitively it is - just simply doesn't work. I doubt Urban Meyer was as clean as the driven snow, for instance, and he simply didn't control every booster, but he was also not in bed with them - not at Bowling Green, not at Utah, not at UF, and apparently not at Ohio State either - and Meyer was and is not running around the country just throwing money at recruits Wild West '80's style. Neither is, say, Gary Patterson at TCU, or Charlie Strong anywhere he's been, or even our old buddy Steve Spurrier...again, boosters do stuff on their own, but Spurrier wasn't about to get his hands dirty with that kind of stuff and he was openly contemptuous of guys who did.
The bottom line is that this isn't Dynasty Mode on those old NCAA Football video games that EA doesn't make anymore because they didn't wanna get sued by the players they weren't compensating for using their likenesses. You don't recruit a guy with a 95 rating and just automatically get a 95 performer...how you get him, under what conditions, and what compromises and power you surrendered to get that signature on the dotted line are going to follow you every inch of the way.
An early story that slipped the net is this defensive end Dabo was recruiting one of his early years at Clemson. The kid (cough) allegedly stuck his hand out during Dabo's in-home...and Dabo proceeded to get up, thanked the guy for his time, and walked right on out of the house, and poof, the only thing that made the recruiting reports was Clemson had abruptly stopped recruiting the guy. The kid incidentally wound up at Louisville...playing for Bobby Petrino his first go-around with the Cards; whether or not this kid did so for free is a secret between him and Bobby P. I still remember being really annoyed at that, whatever. Just one thing: could anybody name that particular recruit now? I don't think the guy even made it two years at Louisville...he washed out, floated around the JUCO circuit for a couple years, and was just plain gone. So it usually goes, when the kid knows the rules don't apply to him because the rules got broken to get him....

They have been kind of the RBU here lately. They also run a RB friendly offense. Hopefully Dabo can get in Momma's good graces and we can get another visit.

Let's just say that ZW and his Momma can be persuaded by extracurricular incentives, we shore as shooting don't want either of them setting foot on campus. Dabo and his staff ain't turnip farmers. They know what is going on in the recruiting world and so far what they have done is the model for success. They will go toe to toe with anyone on the trail for a recruit; however when they back away from someone there is a very good reason. As long as Dabo is at Clemson, we never will be called up before the Mast to explain why cars or cash wound up in some player or his family's hands. Just the way I see it!

I actually think that we have moved on. Looks like we have other RB's that we have strong interest in. Sure would loved to have had White but if he and family choose another school for the wrong reason so be it. I personally like the way Dabo and company do business on the recruiting trail. GO TIGERS!!!

While fans keep talking about him, nothing seems to be coming out that the staff is still recruiting him. Maybe he wasn't interested at all, maybe someone said the wrong thing(what can U do for me),maybe something else(transcripts),just seems ,for some reason(good or bad) the staff has moved on.
Again, it could possibly be that White is not interested at all and the staff knows that they can get any one of several RB's out there and have chosen to spend their time and efforts on them.
Maybe Quozzel knows why ????
As for those questioning what others are saying,if you know a HS coach, ask them how UGA is recruiting now.
Auburn,Ole MI$$ and SMU combined don't hold a candle to them.

I really don't think he's the #1 back in America tbh. even before uga became the favorite, some friends and I were watching his film and were less than impressed. I remember watching Feaster's film and being blown away. even Etienne's film looked awesome. white just looks like a good, solid back to me. maybe he shows out at camps or something, I just don't get it....

Completely agree about the tape. Yeah he's good but he doesn't blow you away. I think a lot of the hype is in the ranking. Etienne definitely has the better looking tape

that guy is definitely gonna play this year. remember when the recruiting services had Todd Gurley as a 3 star? I think a lot of the player rankings come from these camps rather than game evaluation

good point. 2018 looks to be a weak rb class overall. maybe Dexter's brother? it's interesting that the pledger kid from IMG listed us in his top 8 but rivals doesn't have us listed in his choices at all. with our numbers being so low if we can't get a top notch guy maybe we should hold off and get 2 next year

If he goes to Ga. it's because he likes Ga. It's a great program.
I don't understand why people will think money is involved or something
nefarious happened if a recruit picks somewhere else.
If you've ever gone to the coot board
that is all they talk about, the $$ Dabo pays to get players which is hogwash.
Accusations like that make us look bad.

I agree...you win some, you lose some. If we keep bringing in the war daddys on the offensive line, it won't matter WHO our back is. They'll have some holes to run through.

No tinfoil-hatted conspiracy theories on this one. It'll come out, most likely. UGA is, uhm, not being subtle right now. Smart and Co. are very much going Wild West and are about as subtle as Yosemite Sam firing his six-guns up in the air, I'll leave it at that. They are turning heads right now in much the same way as Hugh Freeze did a few years back.

Agree. If he likes GA then so be it and best of luck. They will run him 30 times a game and churn and burn him. Move on to others.
