Your presidential voting history

A thread below inspired me to post this. What's your all-time voting history in presidential elections and why did you make your choice?
All of my votes cast in South Carolina, so that, IMO, allowed me more freedom to vote third party.
1996: Dole. I was 18 and granted, much of my decision was probably influenced by parents. I never liked Clinton and still don't, and couldn't see myself voting for him.
2000: Bush. Was hoping to see him bring a change to the Clinton era White House. Regretted it pretty much immediately post 9/11.
2004: Michael Badnarik. Wanted Bush out of office, but didn't agree with John Kerry's platform.
2008: Obama. I didn't really buy into his platform, but I thought he would turn around Bush era policies and practices, particularly with Iraq and Afghanistan. He didn't, and didn't take long for me to regret my vote.
2012: Gary Johnson. Didn't support either Obama or Romney, although now in hindsight, I wish I had voted Romney.
2016: Johnson. Trump and Hillary were horrific choices.
2020:???? Probably the Clemson gal. 100 percent not voting Trump.

2004: Bush Kerry and especially Edwards really rubbed me the wrong way. Almost went Nader but went for Bush at the last minute because of the leadership he showed during 9/11. I was young and didn't realize what the patriot act really was yet.
2008: Bob Barr. Barr was a man of principal and had good experience. Didn't think Obama had the life experience to be president, and thought McCain was a weak chinned #####.
2012: Gary Johnson. Johnson had run a state effectively and shared many of my views. Obama had done a terrible job and Romney gave me the creeps.
2016: Gary Johnson. The choice was so obvious.
2020: Jo Jorgensen. Probably the most articulate L candidate in my lifetime,and she has the advantage of running against the two worst options in my lifetime.

George W. Bush - cause AMERICA
Obama - was afraid of McCain being another war hawk
Mittens Mitt - sensible, good economic policy, man of good faith
Trump - cause AMERICA
2020 - Nikki Haley or Rand Paul, not sure yet.

2004: Bush; just voted Republican because that's what I was supposed to do
2008: did not vote; don't remember circumstances; don't remember caring or following politics much at this time
2012: Goode; thought Romney was "too liberal" and Mormon. Obviously Obama was very liberal and in favor of murdering children. If I could go back in time, I'd vote Romney.
2016: Castle; Clinton in favor of murdering children, of course. Trump pretty much the opposite of what I thought a leader should be.
Staring down the barrel of another Constitution Party vote this year, though I'm not sure there will actually be one on the ballot. So it may be a write-in of someone like N. Haley or T. Scott.

Straight Republican for President since 1992 election (my first). I have voted for plenty of democrats in state and local elections, but never for President.
Why? Just have some major disagreements with the democrat platform.

Slick Willie - Murica improving, thought he was better overall than Dole
Dubya - cause Gore, was well...Gore
Dubya - Kerry seemed out of touch, in the midst of chaos didn't seem a good time to change it up.
Obama - Would've voted for McCain, but Palin was soooo unqualified to be VP
Mitt - Knew he would've done a good job, priorities in order kind of guy.
Trump - Mistake. Couldn't vote for HRC for obvious reasons, thought he'd calm down once in office and serve honorably. Boy was I wrong.

I feel like there are many people like you who realized voting for Trump was a mistake (and I'm not judging as I've cast many voting mistakes), yet they continue to fight for him because they don't want to admit it was a bad choice. I'm glad you realize he's horrible.

weight of the office would subdue his antics and he'd get down to the business of being POTUS. Then, just the opposite happened, he embarrassed himself and the country in almost every way possible. The real kicker came when congressional Republicans excused his aberrant behavior and bad policy and then backed him up without even a flinch. I thought it was the biggest load of BS when elected Republicans euphemistically referred to him as a "non-traditional" president. Immoral, ignorant, and narcissism are not "non-traditional", they're just bad for America.

And look at the 180 Mark Levin and Sean Hannity have done. Mark spent multiple weeks ranting and railing on the guy. Now he can't separate himself from Trump's jock.

from previous admins. W had a few rah rah Republicans in Congress, but he had plenty of critics in his own party. Cheerleader crap for Obama wore off after the first couple of years, and Clinton always had a few D detractors. Reagan had plenty of party enthusiasm, but he was pretty well liked across the aisle, too; he was well respected, but I don’t recall anyone just gave him a pass.
I’m not gonna breakout singing, “The Way We Were”, but a return to some accountability and decorum amongst the elected would be nice.

Such a massive victory like that showed that Reagan made an effort to reach across the aisle and attempt to work with Democrats rather than paint anyone who disagreed with him as an enemy to him or America, like our current idiot president.
That's where I place Reagan as the best president of my lifetime. Even if you disagreed with his policies, he tried to be a leader of all of America.

No, the left was against Reagan. The difference is the media was not uber-left and in the tank for anyone having R next to their name.
And, why are you suggesting a return to decorum, etc.? Sounds like you have not paid attention to the massive corruption that has now become routine in the federal gov't.
Going back to HRC's personal email server, from which Russia had 100% access to all her emails. 100% access for years. Clinton Foundation with 100s of millions of foreign donations. AG meeting on tarmac. Steele Dossier which is as fake as the day is long, and you can tell that just by reading it for God's sake, regardless that the democrats paid for it. Peter Strzok....
There is corruption on the right too, but the level to which this has climbed to is unprecedented. Corruption is so routine, people are doing egregious things nearly completely in the open.
The concepts the left has adopted are irrational and if it keeps going, there will be something akin to a civil war at some point.

I have only seriously looked at 3rd-party candidates in 1992 and 2016. (Wanted to vote Perot in '92, but Stockdale...) In 2016, none were viable. Trump would have been my 10th choice of the GOP candidates. Was resigned to voting Hillary, but I could not stand her in the Pres. debates. Hoped Trump would surround himself with good people (that didn't work out so well..)

1992: Perot. My first vote. In retrospect he seems a bit Trumpy and populist, at the time he seemed a lot more authentic - I liked his idea of running the US like a business and keeping us in the black, and I also liked the fact that when some of his guys got snatched by Iranian militants in 1979, rather than argue the point, he hired some ex-Special Forces mercenaries to go get his guys back...which indeed they did.
1996: Dole even though he bored me to tears. Like you I never warmed to Bill Clinton. I hated how fast and loose with the truth he was and I thought he should have been a used-car salesman in Arkansas.
2000: Dubya. Like you I was highly annoyed by his decision to go back into Iraq, and basically stuff Haliburton's pockets. I liked Dubya as a fellow; I hated the fact that he always seemed to be dancing like a puppet on the end of #### Cheney's strings.
2004: Dubya. Reluctantly. I hesitated but I was still burnt out on Democrats after Clinton. This was another hemlock-or-cyanide choice for me.
2008: McCain. I really, really liked McCain. Still do. I think he was one of the few genuinely "great" men we've had living in our generation and I really wish he'd been president.
2012: Romney. Seemed a little stiff and square to me but seemed level, solid, and I agreed with his policies. He's become one of my heroes later by refusing to bow before Trump unlike the rest of the GOP.
2016: Neither. I sat it out after voting Kasich in the primary. I loathed Trump out loud and couldn't bear to vote for Hillary.
2020: Biden. Absolutely, 100% Biden. If Biden kicks and the Dems decide to run the dog-catcher against Trump, I will vote for the dog-catcher.

2004: W. I was still rallying around the flag.
2008: McCain. I always respected him because of his Navy service and at the time I was on board with his hawkish tendencies. When the biggest issue became the financial crisis, I did question his economic chops.
2012: Didn't vote. Couldn't tell the difference between Romney and Obama.
2016: Gary Johnson. I think he has a donkey brains certificate, but I was trying to express my frustration at Clinton/Trump and my vote didn't matter.

1980: Reagan. My first and to this day IMO my best.
1984: Reagan. DUH landslide.
1988: George H.W. Bush. I still think with his past history/accomplishments might have been the man most qualified ever to be POTUS. Plus you have this....

Here's where I go into a bit of a slump.
1992: George H. W. Bush. See above.
1996: Bob Dole. War hero and boring. I knew he had no chance.
2000: George W. Bush. I liked his message and Al Gore really! Even though he invented the internet.
2004: George W. Bush. Four more years and I can't say anything nice about john Kerry.
2008: John McCain. I always liked his politics for the most part. War hero. Though in 2004 after hearing Obama speak DNC I called it that he would be the next POTUS.
2012: Barack Obama. I just couldn't vote for Romney.
2016: Donald J. Trump. I held my nose and did it. #ABC Anyone But Clinton. I'll probably do the same this year or waste a vote with a write in.

As a general rule, I vote for whichever of the major party candidates (R or D...sorry L’s) I think is best for the country at that time...or lesser of two evils. Not a single issue voter and will vote for person I think is best, regardless of platform.
