Your ffotball thoughts?

Mar 30, 2015, 8:28 PM

Reviewing our current football recruits for '16 these are my thoughts. If we can land one top ten ,and one top twenty DT, one top twenty Safety/Corner along with another top ten LB. We will be able to compete for a national football title in the next two, or three years.

Your thoughts? Never felt this way since the 80's.

I guess being in my 70's I probably should back off posting about my special team. Might make a spelling mistake. God Bless my tigers.
I'll be one til I die!

First, here's what I hope we'll get in 2016 FWIW

QB (1) Zerrick Cooper- committed
RB (1) Tavien Feaster- committed
WR (2, maybe three?) TJ Chase and Cornell Powell committed. Wouldn't mind picking up another taller WR like Diondre Overton(70 recs 1,200 yds 11 TDs) or Binjimen Victor (44 recs 811 yds, 12 TDs).
TE (1) J.C. Chalk committed
OL (3 or 4) Sean Pollard committed. Spit balling it but I wouldn't mind seeing Parker Boudreaux, EJ Price, and John Simpson sign with us. Clark Yarborough would be another one.
DT (1-2) Wouldn't mind seeing us nab Rashan Gary, Dexter Lawrence, or Julian Rochester. I really like Nyles Pinkney's disruptiveness and the way he causes turnovers. There are plenty of great DT's in this class.
DE (1) Really would love to pick up Jordan Smith, Shavar Manuel, or Chidi Okonya. Hated seeing Wiley commit to Ole Miss.
LB (2-3) Jamie Skalski and Rahshaun Smith committed.Tre Lamar and Tobias Little are a few prospects. Look for Tobias Little to commit soon.
CB (1-2) A few potential recruits are Robbie Robinson, Jacob Morgenstern, Korey Charles, Nigel Edmonds, or even Brittain Brown.

As I mentioned the 2017 class is loaded. Here's just a few elite ones out there who are on our big board as well-

QB Lowell Narcisse 6-3 200 Saint James, LA St. James HS

24/7 gives him 4*, the #3 dual threat QB, and #52 overall. In his teams first game of 2014, Narcisse completed 17 of 34 passes for 320 yds (3 TDs, 2 INTs) and 17 carries for 89 yds (1 TD). His team went 8-5 and 5-2 in region play. During his sophomore year, he went 205-358 3124 yds 31 TDs and 13 INTs. He also rushed for 1402 yds and 18 TDs.

In 2013, was 122-235 2013 yds 27 TDs and 9 INTs. Ran for 637 yds and 12 scores. Punted 15 times in his freshman year for 451 yds (a 30.1 avg). Unofficially visited CU on Oct 25th, 2014. Holds offers from LSU, Aub, AzSt, and Grambling State. Said Auburn leads on 3/10/15. His cousin is former Tiger Chad Jasmin.

In a playoff game, Narcisse completed 24-of-38 passes for 392 yards and three touchdowns and rushed 15 times for 95 yards and three scores as ninth-seed St. James went on the road and defeated eighth-seed Loreauville 46-8 in the 2A regional round of the state playoffs.

2014 NFTC Houston Film- http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=10969152

Short read- Lowell Narcisse took a snap in the shotgun position in the first quarter Friday and stood with the ball in his hands. Then he waited.

The decision to run or pass was often the correct one for the left-handed sophomore, as he ran for three touchdowns and threw for another as St. James beat Carver 47-14 in a District 8-2A game at Pan American Stadium in City Park.

"We played against that kid last year, and you can see the difference between this year and last year," Carver coach Byron Addison said. "He's being patient. He's not running until (the defense) really breaks down."

Some film- http://www.maxpreps.com/video/watch.aspx?videoid=efab8bba-720b-4732-bc13-22cec3c2ae05

After visiting Clemson for a 2014 game- “It was really nice. The atmosphere was loud. It was exciting watching them come down The Hill. I really enjoyed it,” he said. “They run kind of the same offense we run, zone read, so it would be an easy transition from high school to college,” Narcisse said.

RB Colin Wilson 6-1 200 Green Cove Springs, FL Clay HS

24/7 has him as a 4 star recruit, the #3 RB, and #32 overall. Rivals.com also gives Wilson 4 stars. In 2014, had 1555 yards on 218 carries with 27 TDs. Had 8 100 yard games. HUDL.com Film http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3350881/jt-cauthen

His HS QB is highly touted prospect Austin Kendall who recently decommitted from Tenn. This season the spotlight will be on J.T. Cauthen as he'll no longer have to split catches with Brian Muckelvene (97 recs 1509 yds 15.6 avg 107.8 PG 23 TDs)or TE Nick Karas (41 recs 761 yards 18.6 avg 50.7 PG 8 TDs).

“He’s a kid well beyond his years. He’s only just a sophomore, but his maturity and football understanding has just developed so much in the last year. He’s really able to dominate some games. He just has great hands."

“When I first saw him walk on the field, I thought he was a junior or senior just by his body build.” - Cuthbertson Coach David Johnson

(TD @ 6:12)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKXEMBtWA3w

"In his first varsity game – a grudge match with cross-town rival Marvin Ridge – Cauthen made 11 catches for 129 yards and two touchdowns. However, a groin injury three games later forced him to miss the reason of the season. Cauthen began this season healthy and on varsity. Six games in, he has 40 receptions for 653 yards and seven touchdowns."- Scout.com

“Gunter Brewer (UNC WR coach) has been here and seen him a few times and has made comparisons to Dez [Bryant] and Justin Blackmon in terms of how they looked when they were younger,” Johnson said. “He’s not saying he’ll be anywhere near as good as those guys, but just in the physical tools.”

DE Malik Herring Forsyth, GA Mary Persons HS

24/7 gives him a 4 star rating, the #1 WDE, and 50th overall. Rivals.com gives him 4 stars. He has offers from Bama, Auburn, Clemson, FSU, UGA, and most majors. For his freshman year, Herring had 19 tackles, 2 sacks, and 1 pass break up. Honorable mention Region 2 -AAAA. Film- http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2882212/malik-herring

On Clemson- "It was amazing at the Clemson game," said Herring. "I loved it. The fans were great, the atmosphere was amazing, and everything was nice. I will get back there for another game this season."

LB Justin Foster 6-4 205 Shelby, NC Crest HS

Clemson was the first school to offer Foster. In 2014, he tallied 57 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 FF. He is also a really good basketball player and is rated as the #8 player in NC. According to MaxPreps.com, he averages 9.7 points, 1.1 assist, 6.5 rebounds, and two blocks a game. Film- http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1735360/justin-foster

Short Read- Coach Mark Barnes says of Foster, "Number one, he's a rangy guy- he's 6-3, 6-3 1/2. He's long armed, wide-shouldered, and he's thin at 205, 210 pounds and can really, really run. He plays well in space and got more and more comfortable as the year went on playing closer to the line-of-scrimmage - that's what young guys really struggle with. Another thing he really has going for him." http://northcarolina.scout.com/story/1513062-2017-target-justin-foster

On Clemson- “I had been to (North) Carolina games and I had been to Wake Forest, but the atmosphere at Clemson was totally different,” he said. “The way they treated you, all the schools treat everyone nice, but at Clemson they treat everyone like a family. It feels like a big family thing and all the fans and everything. I really liked that, like how they treated everybody around there and the atmosphere. The atmosphere was totally different from any other game I’d been to.”

S Davondre "Tank" Robinson 6-0 190 Lake Marion, SC Lake Marion HS

According to MaxPreps.com, in 2014 he had 79 tackles, 5 INTs, and 6 PBUs. The site also has him going 45 of 81 for 835 yds, 4 TDs and 1 INT. He also totaled 872 yds and 5 TDs on 75 carries (an avg of 11.6 yds). In his freshman year, he completed 27 of 43 passes for 452 yds and 4 TDs. Robinson also had 32 tackles and an interception. 24/7 gives him 4 stars, the #7 S, and #97 overall prospect. Rivals.com also gives Robinson 4 stars. Scout.com also gives him 4 stars. Plays QB for his high school but most expect that Robinson will play safety or outside linebacker at the college lever. Attended CU's Junior Day. Holds a 3.8 GPA. Visited for the 2013 UGA game. On Clemson- "It's real nice. I like it."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCuztexxVZQ

"He is a good one now and he is going to be a very good one," said Coach Carter. "He is a physical kid who makes a lot of plays for us. Coaches have been talking to me about him since he was a freshman and he is going to have a lot of offers. He has a bright future." Scout's Chad Simmons' says: Remember this name. It is early, but Robinson flies around the field, he plays with aggression, and he delivers some huge hits at safety. He closes on the ball well, he can come downhill, and he is a prospect that will attract big offers over time.
