She remarked to a security guard that they have to stop it since everyone over 50 who gets it is dying and that means her son with her (looked 4 years old) won't live past 50.
I don't even know what to say.

Thus, the importance of having a Pandemic Response Team and getting the actual truth out immediately. Instead, we have people walking around without the facts. Definitely more dangerous was announcing it was a hoax than those who are drowning in fear from taking it too serious.

self-appointed gurus on social media along with those who fall for their "wisdom."
I've lived through quite a bit during my 70+ years; refuse to panic; and choose to follow the advice of medical leaders, much of which varies little from what I've heard all of my life from my parents, teachers and other rational adults.
What we are experiencing is fear...fear of the unknown; and usually that type of fear begets panic, leading to many unwise decisions. Thus, folks would do well to remain informed from medical and scientific experts, to avoid the fear-mongering and rumormongering on TV or social media, and get a grip on themselves..,if not for us, for our children's sake.

I've seen news features related to COVID 19 busting myths such as people thinking that drinking a lot of water would flush the virus out of you, or that drinking bleach won't get rid of it. I remember thinking that people couldn't possibly be stupid enough to believe stuff like that to begin with, and then I remember that people like this exist.
