Need Advice - Parking on Ave of Champions

Nov 15, 2015, 6:10 PM

So I got a parking spot on Ave. of Champions... trying to plan tailgating logistics. Do I back in, parallel park, etc.? It's on the Little John side of the street towards the end, near perimeter road Also, are people generally OK with bringing two pop-up tents? ...there's a grassy area surrounding Little John where I'd probably set up camp. Bringing 8 people, 6 who have never been to a Clemson game, and 3 who have never been to a college football game! Want to make sure I give them the full Clemson experience! Thanks in advance for any helpful tips or comments! Go Tigers!

Are you bragging....why would you ask this tiger board about how you
should park & etc on the ave of champions. if YOU do have a a.o.c parking,
you would be appraised of the parking requirements...I have to wounded???

I wish I was bragging... I just got the pass for the game. I usually walk from the other side of tiger town, or wherever I can find parking.

They usually back into those spaces on AOC.

cool... that's what I was wondering. on the satellite maps (like google maps) it shows them parallel parking but that's probably just for normal weekdays. It makes a difference if the plan is to sit on the tailgate and back up to a tent or something. Thanks!

Fencing up everywhere. We're in Lot 3 along Perimeter and walk through there to and from the games. There's plenty of space...it's just got a lot of fencing and mud runoff...no grass anymore.

I think I remember walking past that during the GT game now that I think about it. Bummer about the grass. @Fever mentioned that people back in... do you remember there being enough room between the parking and the fence to put up tents?

They've taken the sidewalks out on the Littljohn side of the street so it's a wide area

I park there space3073. No space what so ever to tailgate. You will angle park with no room for a tent or even chairs. We have been tailgating in lot 5 with friends. Vehicle is within inches of construction fence with a single lane for traffic

The Little John cam looks right at my spot (I'm closer to the corner than you @tigerlabel ). Are we allowed to setup tents and stuff on the grassy plateau areas on the left going up towards Little John? If so, I'm OK with leaving the truck at the bottom.

I tailgate in the grass plateau areas to the left that you are referring to on the webcams. Those are assigned parking spots with assigned tailgating spots. You can't set up a tent there on the grass unless it is your spot. There is no place to tailgate on that side of AOC unless you don't park your car in the spot and just put your tent. You might want to just walk to esso from there. Those usually are great spots but that has not been the case this year.

thanks for the heads up... are there no spots for a tent up near the building either (i.e. they reserve spots for the entire area)? Just trying where to squeeze a tent in. Plan on calling the IPTAY office in the morning to see what they recommend.

@Charlestonblondie

Looking at the Lot 3 map, it seems like there would be an area for tents against the building, no?

so I spoke to IPTAY and they said that tents are allowed even during the construction. regulation size is 9x23, but I'd imagine some folks poke further into the street than others. Was it just too cramps for you? ...I'm not sure what 9x23 would look like after a truck and tent cramps in it either.

Nov 16, 2015, 11:15 AM

Just don't be like some of the upper crust that park there and try to leave 5 mins after the game. I walk back to my spot thru there and with people trying to leave so fast, I have seen pedestrians get their feet run over by an suv trying to beat traffic out. Stick around, have a beer and celebrate the win!

Definitely plan on hanging around. We'll have 8 folks in one spot, so no way to shuttle run until a few hours later.
