I haven’t had nary a drop since the end of July.
Thankfully I didn’t have any addiction issues with the fire water, but I started realizing I was feeling like complete shiddd even after just a drink or two. Decided to do a dry August to see how I felt, and I ended up losing 18 pounds and feeling about 10 years younger.
Can’t say I’m a teetotaler forever but right now the thought of a nice beverage doesn’t even appeal to me. Don’t worry, I won’t get all preachy but hey, give it a shot if you want to clean out the old system.
Now I just need to figure out what to do with my beer fridge full of 4 figures worth of craft IPAs....

but since my mid twenties (over a decade ago), I probably only drink 3-5 times a year. It's still fun to have a couple of drunk nights with friends a year, or a work happy hour with 1-2 beers here and there, maybe even a few if I'm anchored and fishing down rods with buddies, but other than that, I don't drink when I go out to eat and I may only drink 1-2 drinks "alone at home" per year.
I'm not saying this because I'm "proud" of it, or because I think anyone else is "wrong". Drinking alcohol is no worse to me than drinking a soda or coffee. One gets you hyper and one calms you down. I just think that it's way more common than people think to be an "occasional drinker" and all we ever hear from are people who drink daily or people who are completely dry. I have no rule saying I can't drink. I just know that when I do, I have to make it worth the crappy morning it will cause me- and that's rarely the case.
Now gluttony and lust- that's my vices...

Drink a 24 pack of beer every weekend.
I could probably lose 15 lbs if I stopped drinking. But then what would be the point?

I do have to say that I had the same experience (feeling crappy after only a couple). For me, it was the craft IPAs. Not as interesting, but I don't feel that "bad" feeling after a couple of Mich Ultras...
