Trump continues to promote unproven drugs

Apr 6, 2020, 1:02 PM

Everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Apr 6, 2020, 1:03 PM

Nothing else to take. Take a shot.

then what is the problem? If it is known to be dangerous, then the government would make it illegal. On the contrary, the government has explicitly allowed its use.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They know the drug is safe for treating other diseases

Apr 6, 2020, 2:57 PM

not covid-19. I think it probably is safe and may even be a legit treatment for Covid-19, but the President saying it, instead of his medical experts, is improper. Trump isn't great with messaging and that may have played a part in why a man thought he could take his fish bowl cleaner (a form of chloroquine) because the messaging (that should be common sense, but alas...) has been muddled and confused.

Fauci reportedly got into a heated fight with Navarro over this very issue on Saturday.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

As long as the President isn't saying it's a proven cure

Apr 6, 2020, 3:06 PM

Then I don't see the problem. If he's just promoting the promise, then I'd say that's a good thing. We need some positivity.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Let the medical experts promote the promise then.

Apr 6, 2020, 3:25 PM

What if we come to find out at best the treatment doesn't work and at worst it has unknown serious side effects for treating covid-19?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Apr 6, 2020, 3:38 PM

Do you think he wants people to die or something?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, but I also know he won't take responsibility for it.

Apr 6, 2020, 4:09 PM

He said covid-19 wasn't as dangerous as the flu and that this isn't going to be a pandemic, only to say later he never said that. He has a history of either not taking responsibility, downplaying, or lying about what he said/did that has since been proven wrong.

He's predictable.

Saying that, I think it's low odds that there will be negative consequences to using hydroxychloroquine so he's probably fine playing the odds on this.

That's great, the whole point is we need conclusive evidence. I really don't understand what's so hard about that.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Of course we need conclusive evidence.

Apr 6, 2020, 1:51 PM

There are brilliant people working on this. Again I say, what's the problem?

"This drug could help" and "There is no proof the drug helps" are not contradictory statements. Both can be true, at the same time.

probably having with patients. Sir, this drug is not being administered in back alleys by guys in trenchcoats. Doctors with many years of experience are discussing it with their patients as an option, and many are agreeing that its potential benefits outweigh the risks.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Yes, that sounds like the conversations doctors are

Apr 6, 2020, 2:35 PM

You can spin it all you want, but it’s stupid and dangerous for the President of the US to be promoting drugs to the general public- especially the idiots that voted for him- when their safety and effectiveness are not confirmed. Come on, wake up.
Stop defending the indefensible, you sound as stupid as our President.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If a doctor and patient agree that it is not dangerous

Apr 6, 2020, 2:43 PM

for that individual, or at least that the danger is an acceptable risk, why is it it a problem?

Nobody is taking the drug because the President likes it. And if they are (they aren't), that's not his fault, anyway.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The drugs are administered according to...

underlying medical conditions. A patient with heart arrhythmia may get a very small dose, or none but only if they are hospitalized for observation for the heart condition.
