Is there any way Clemson could still play in Atlanta?

Dec 3, 2019, 9:53 PM

If the playoff was selected today, I agree with Dinich’s assessment below:

“No. 1 Ohio State would face No. 4 Georgia in the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl. The selection committee makes sure the No. 1 seed is not at a geographic disadvantage, which it would be if it faced Georgia in nearby Atlanta, so No. 2 LSU will face No. 3 Clemson in the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.”

As such, is the following a correct assumption? The only way that we get to play the semi-final in Atlanta is if Ohio State stays #1, and an SEC school finishes #4 (which means Georgia has to beat LSU).

If Georgia wins do we play them in Atlanta? Assuming O310 St wins too.

O310 st would be 1
Ga or Clemson would be 2
LSwho would be 4

Now I’m not sure. I just looked up the distances and

OSU is only like 75 more miles away from Atlanta than LSU. Doubt the committee would then send both teams out West.

Maybe there is no way Clemson plays in Atlanta (assuming we beat UVA)...

Yes

Only way is if LSU loses to UGA.

If both LSU and OSU lose we’d be 1 and play in Atlanta as well.

Eventually....they will all lose to a dominant Clemson Tiger team.

Ah yes, I wasn’t thinking that both of them would lose;

But anything could happen!
