THIS just aired on 107.5 in Columbia!

A woman called in, gamecock alum, and said her daughter chose clemson and was in the band. She said she was disgusted at SCAR fans! Her daughter and other members of band were verbally attacked all day, with obscenities, and had stuff thrown at them. She said they were afraid to go to the bathroom.

After all this she talked about being ashamed of her alma mater's fan base, the host (Tim is his name I think) told the caller basically sorry to hear that but "Your daughter picked the wrong school".

I live in Columbia and can tell you, this is the culture here. You can buy players and coaches, but this place can't buy class! Unreal.

OH WOW!***

I remember back, many years ago, when we used to be losers like you guys have become. Any team that beat us had horrible fans. Now we have the "horrible fans." I just sit back and smile. Can't win, make up lies.

What do you call the students flipping off our players and throwing trash at the Clemson players and band? Is that "normal?"

I guess none of you watched the replay of last year's game. The best moment was when one of your Orange clad "classy" fans gave the finger to the whole world. We loved it.

The worst was when your fans stomped a live chicken to death on the field at DV. Yep you guys just drip class.

Don't worry, you're still a loser.***

Don't recognize the truth. Don't force yourself to admit that all fan bases are pretty much the same. Don't force yourself to admit that all teams have some bad apples…

Just throw a few big words, use the word "rhetoric" incorrectly, and make up some ridiculous scenario that has no basis in reality.

You must really hate the mirror some mornings.

According to Columbia police, Geathers was fighting with a security guard in the parking lot of the Lady Street club when officers arrived at 3:10 a.m. Police spokesman Brick Lewis said Geathers failed to comply with officers’ commands, was slurring his words, using profanity and “swinging his arms and pulling away” from an officer who tried to detain him. Lewis said it took two officers to get handcuffs on Geathers, the tallest player on the Gamecocks’ roster. When they detained him, officers noticed a strong odor of alcohol on Geathers, Lewis said. “He just didn’t want to cooperate,” Lewis said. “We got one cuff on him, and eventually moved on to the other. And that’s when we had assistance from the other officer.” Lewis said he did not know how the fight started. The report says the officer asked Muldrow to stop and to come toward him, and that Muldrow threw the bottle in the bushes. he report says Muldrow cooperated and gave his name. According to the incident report, the officer smelled alcohol on Muldrow and said the player "had reddened eyes and slurred speech. Usc is trying to be like their Sec brethren, go to Jawja, Bama or LSU and this is their mentality to. Look I have been going to Clemson games since 1968 and we have had our isolated red neck fans too, but that is not the norm for us. I have sit all over DV all those years and certainly have witnessed childish fans make fools of themselves, but in Willy Brice they try and not only imtimidate players, they do the same throughout to visiting fans especially us, so is it out of hand? Yes it is and onaverage they cannot say that about DV, I have personally tried to make opossing fans feel welcome in our stadium and that has been true even to Carolina fans. You will not get that in Columbia. You can't wear your colors without some smart end comment about we can't touch Orange or ewe look at that color yadda yadda.
They feel justified and now vindicated because they are finally on top for an extended period. Until we beat them and run that drunk Spurrier off the beatings and imtimidation will continue!

Tim (or Brent) said there was no place for that and were in no way condoning it like you are putting on.

They ended the conversation by jokingly asking why she went to Clemson.

I know you are all very eager to pull out the class card, but why don't you give all the information first?

You have to realize that SC fans have lifetimes of bad memories of Clemson, so while it is not an excuse, they enjoy beating the Tigers. So, while some SC fans are bad, I will admit, but if that is the type of proof you need to fulfill your generalizations of Gamecock supporters, you need to do better than that.

Win, lose or draw, your fan base is shit. It's not "a few bad apples," it's not "isolated incidents," it is a long, proven history of ALL MANNER of ###### behavior.

I'll give you credit though, it's a great way to increase your home field advantage. I've talked to fans of at least five different teams that won't go back to Columbia.

My grandmother

Posted: Dec 3, 2013 2:12 PM

Is a gamecock, she dislikes spurrier and quit going to games in the early 80's because of their home fans and it wasn't appropriate to take children. She watches from her couch while many friends and family still brave that insane asylum. I think she's one of the only true scar fans.

Re: My grandmother

Posted: Dec 3, 2013 2:19 PM

That has nothing to do with being a Gamecock fan and everything to do with today's lower standards of what is acceptable. My son lived in Seneca for the first 4 years of his life and I had to on numerous occasions call someone down for language about a shirt my son was wearing or just the way they behaved in general towards him. Smoking in the kids playground at the Mickey D's on Clemson Blvd and I was told that if I didn't like it I could take my little ####### Coot and go somewhere else. Point being is that it's everywhere. Columbia is a bigger town so there may be more instances to point to but it boils down to a lack of discretion on how society in general acts, garnet, orange, red or yellow, There are plenty of people out there that can be offensive to some and others find it acceptable.

Tell me, does your son/daughter participate in any sporting

Posted: Dec 3, 2013 4:24 PM

events? Maybe I can toss some bottles and cans at them since today's lower standards are acceptable.

Fact is, you wouldn't like it, and I would imagine you would have a big problem with me if I did so, correct? If you can answer that question honestly, then you're a step closer in gaining a speck of sense...

Believe nothing that you hear and only half

Of what you see. When sc won the game in 2010 I had an elderly lady continuously make smart and rude comments to me while I was waiting to get through the tunnel but you don't hear me whining about it. No wonder your team crumples when someone says something to them, it emanates from your university like a pulse of sadness.

Rudeness and Intimidation!

[1]
Posted: Dec 3, 2013 2:31 PM

There is no room for rudeness, imtimidation and/or belittling someone for rooting for their team and wearing their colors. You guys think that all the spoils should go to the victors and I say act like you been there before and win with grace and class. That is all I am asking for and our society has bought into the above Roman scenario. It is common to think it is perfectly OK to treat people any way you want if you beat them and I say I am too old school for that. My coaches did not tolerate this kind of behavior and expected us to knock you on your tail and then help you up. You can play with sportsmanship and that goes for the fans in the stands. I have three grown sons and I would not dare to take them to a Carolina vs Clemson game when they were little at Williams Brice and it is worse now then in the 80's & 90's. I would hate to think someone from Carolina would not bring their child to Clemson, but it is going to get worse cause animosity just breeds animosity. Are we creating anarcy, yes we are and we do not even realize it.

I am a die hard tiger and will probrably be hated for saying this but All you guys out there fishing for something that will soften the blow of the coots win, really just sound like the coots use to sound. Some of you guys really are turning into what the coot fans were when we wrecked them year in and year out. Why are you even listening to their radio show? They are the little brother so quit doing little brother things. The fact that you are intently listening in on what they have to say is cootish.

And

Did she yell obscenities at you, or throw things at you or your team? Or is that just the drunk kids that leave at halftime and know their team's conference but can't name players outside of shaw and clowney?

Tell em coot. I have no other talk radio to listen to. Caught it on way to lunch. Walt is sketch in the upstate, but at least objective and certainly not biased toward Clemson. Sorry 107.5 the coot your safe haven is being exposed. Congrats on the win and I promise not to assault or yell obscenities at you or your family members young and old. Is there no self respect for your fans?

Re: Slappy

again.. you are talking about a station that has an admitted Clemson supporter on it's morning show aren't you?

She yelled obscenities

About me, my niece dressed in gamecock gear, said cam newton would make us his ##### and all I did was cover my nieces ears and keep walking. Every fan base has trashy people. Get over it, have all of you forgotten the Clemson students throwing trash all over the endzone last year? It's convenient that you forget that stuff.

You literally added nothing constructive to this argument. Carry on

Re: THIS just aired on 107.5 in Columbia!

I honestly do not believe the throwing of bottles BS. Every single time you go to a hostile environment you will have people yell at you (when you are wearing opposing teams colors) especially in a rivalry situation, but as one who has worked security at these events, throwing of garbage is an offense that not only gets you expelled from a game but likely charged with assault. I hear this argument after every single loss and away game. Give it a rest.

You're talking about Benji Norton who is the only person who even mentions clemson objectively, and has admitted pulling for both scar and clemson? Wow one guy, great voice btw, not sure where you're trying to go with this other than you want 107.5 the coot to be 100% biased instead of 99%. You're reaching hard to protect your fan base.

Did see clemson fans throw stuff on the field after bogus PI calls, poor sportsmanship, much like when the braves had that awful infield fly call cost them in chipper jones last game. The stuff being thrown did not land on people's head though! Wow!

I would encourage you to only attend home games.

It's amazing how thin skinned some people are.

literally spit on me. No, it wasn't Lou Holtz. This guy hocked a loogie and spit it, on me.

I guess I should just "handle that" because it's a part of away games?

You keep it classy down there.

There isn't much you can do in the band to get spit on except play music dumbass.

Double standards much?

Posted: Dec 3, 2013 3:00 PM

You are aware that when you have hundreds of bottles and such flying on the field, that is no different. Considering that is where the players kinda tend to be and such, right? I'm not condoning our fans actions, I'm just getting you to see that your fans are absolutely no different. Get over yourselves

Re: Double standards much?

Throwing bottles on the field…. classless. Throwing bottles AT opposing players? That's the exact same right? Get the crap out of here.

It's ok to verbally assault, throw items at Clemson players, fans, band members etc with intent to hit them, because Clemson threw stuff in the end zone with nothing coming close to hitting ANY person. Is coot logic the rule of law now? Sorry we have owned the history and you've got deep down bad feelings, but we don't attack fans or players, or spit on them, win/lose or draw.

Re: Yes

Posted: Dec 3, 2013 3:26 PM

So, if you throw something at me and miss, and I respond by throwing something and hitting you, I'm in the wrong?

Re: Yes

Posted: Dec 3, 2013 8:51 PM

Again, read the freakin' post. Students threw crap on the field after a bad call, not aiming at refs or players. Your student section threw crap AT our players and band. Are you telling me this is the same? Or did they just think the closest trash bin was in the visiting tunnel as the Clemson players were walking in?

I was sitting in the student section. The play in question in 2012 took place somewhere near midfield. The dozen or so people throwing stuff threw it in the east end zone. The closest people were our own cheerleaders and a couple photographers.

them out on it. If our student athletes and band members are treated this way without the administration so much as making an official statement, then it is open season. I can guarantee you one thing, if Barker or his wife were treated this way, or any of our trustees, our administration would be all over it in a heartbeat. Somebody would pay the price. But our athletes and band, they are not even worth a public statement.

I totally agree. I don't think all of this happened or someone would have it recorded. It's just Clemson fans trying to make them feel better by trying to make us look bad.

Again I work with Clemson fans and none of them had anything negative to say.

their jobs was of utmost importance. How do you know smart phones are even allowed on the field?

I mean you have multiple people admitting to witnessing it, even gamecock fans, and now you guys are just gonna try and flat out deny it even happened?

No one here needs any of your insight, or an apology (unless you participated in it) so what are you here for?

Have you ever been on the field. Yes there are mobile phones. Not players but other support staff. I am not saying it didn't happen----not to the extreme as being played out in this thread

No. it was more than one person, but one actually hit one of the coaches. That's why there was so much attention to it.

Are digging hard for once in forever occurrences while visiting Columbia brings the expectation of harassment. Verbal and physical. It's radio spewing this regurgitated "I hate clemson" bs and calling it "zingers" literally a whole segment dedicated to bashing clemson. Phones were ringing off the hook.

Rode to grocery store tonight, Heath cline(UF gator btw) was on 107.5 saying how sec was wrong to lobby for 1 loss team in title game. Phones silent.

Feed them the zingers or they turn on wcos.
