Wow, easy big fella. Sounds like you've never...

been to one of those. They are extrememly long. The ovation is a special tribute to a guy who had no reason to graduate. He could have gone to the NFL last year. CJ chose to stay, was on academic honor roll and finished early. All this while being one of the most recognized athletes in school history. CJ stayed out of trouble the whole time despite many distractions and temptations. CJ has been an ambassador for Clemson the entire time and represents the kind of athletes the board wants.

Don't forget that he could have left Clemson on gone to FL. He chose not to. He grew up at Clemson. If I had been one of those board members, I would have stood for CJ, Ford and any athletes who have won NC's or major awards juat as I would for anyone graduating with a 4.0. Today, athletes like these are extremely rare and their graduation is a special achievement just like outstading academic achievements.

As for them not being able to get jobs elsewhere, I agree that it is very hard for anyone to get a job with that much power without very special abilities. I like to think that our board is made op of people that could do lots of things.

Go Tigers!

Let us not be deceived by phrases about ‘Man taking charge of his own destiny.’ All that can really happen is that some men will take charge of the destiny of others. . . . The more completely we are planned the more powerful they will be. - C.S. Lewis

Look at their bios. Our BoT members have done alot of other things. The members aren't academics, they are professionals.

Um, don't the members of the BOT hold outside jobs?

Dec 18, 2009, 8:23 AM [ in reply to Re: Spiller Among Six Tiger Football Players to Graduate on Thursday ]

Most of these folks are very successful. CEOs, physicians, partners in large law firms. See for yourself.

So your argument eats itself. But I give you a standing ovation for your effort.

I'll say it again.

Has Sociology replaced PRTM as the easiest major on campus?

Dec 18, 2009, 11:13 AM

I find it more than odd that most of the football players were Sociology majors. In my day they were PRTM- officially "Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management" but better known as "Party Right Through May" because of its ease. I mean PRTM has a 400 level class where you play games as a group...

Amen, for he completed the job he started with honors. Let just hope other sports figures learn from CJs example.
