Tennessee by one point in three weeks? Their defense has certainly not looked stellar against teams with a sign of a pulse. Coots scored 23 on them, and Ole Miss hung up 31. The fact that the pundits shoved them past us to #1 proves that the country is enamored with offense, not defense. It will be truly intereesting to see the reactions if Bama struggles with Bimbo's Boys, and Rocky's Top. I predict the bias would be scrong, and Bama would be lauded for overcoming these SEC powerhouses.

Bama moving ahead of us had nothing to do with being enamored with offense over defense. It had to do with us hanging on to win by 1 point while Bama won by 28. Yes, Bama gave up 31 points, and the defense hasn't looked good overall this season, but they were up 45-10 on Ole Miss midway through the 3rd, and up 52-17 entering the 4th.

If Bama were to only beat Tennessee by 1 point, and we were looking dominant once again the I could see us move back ahead of them, especially since the 1st place votes are still currently pretty split between us. I would at least see either Georgia, LSU, or Auburn moving ahead of them if those teams continue to roll.
