Willie Taggart has a point regarding their defensive line

Oct 23, 2018, 10:44 AM

talent wise. They have plenty of former 5 and high rated 4 stars up front.

I think we are still better though.

They are good

But they’re not close to what we have and not nearly as deep. Burns is a likely 1st rounder, Christmas is good. They’re decent at the other 2 spots but nothing to fear. And they don’t rotate a lot of guys

Goes back to Dabo's score

on the talent + spectrum that was reported during the summer.

Yes, they have talent, but from a developmental standpoint they are now far behind our 2-deep in getting the most out of the 5/4 stars.

They’ll tell you that was only on Jimbo’s staff

Not coaching them up. One thing that I’ve noticed is that they’re not replacing their studs on defense that they’ve always had with other studs. Once Burns leaves this year they’ll have a pretty big hole as Kaindoh has been a disappointment and they don’t have another stud coming in unless they get Thibodeaux which looks like a long shot.

Their recruits the last 2 years have been good but not world beaters. Taggart is known as a great recruiter but he doesn’t bring in the bonafide 5* guys like Jimbo used to.

The thing is what bonafide 5* guys that Jimbo brought in have done anything other than Burns and Akers. Their 2 best receivers (Terry and Murray) were 3 stars.

I was more referring to the guys of the last few years

Derwin, Walker, Dalvin, etc. They’re not replacing those guys that have given us problems in the past with more like them

Good point. They also have a good secondary. But the top talent you have named there have been just as been that have been busts or not lived up. (George Campbell, Matthew Thomas, Malik Henry, Baveon Johnson) which is a huge problem for them. They are better off finding the right guys then worrying about star ranking. Terry was like a 2* but is their best WR by far.

They have a few studs. We rotate in stud after stud. The war of attrition. And now with our passing game, we will own them this Saturday. And own them big.

No way are your gamecocks better
