Why wasn’t targeting

Called on the hit on Trevor. Clearly a blow to the head. Player falling down was defenseless. Defensive player drove his shoulder to the head and also extended his elbow for extra force.

Why do we never get those calls?

Another one early in the game when ETN had his helmet ripped off by the face mask and they let multiple players go after ETN with no helmet on. The officials are suppose to blow the play dead when a ball carrier looses his lid. Dabo was hot! And well he should have been.

Oh yeah, and we accepted our first (yeah first holding penalty of the season against our DL)

Ok, I’m finished my officiating rant.

Because (a) TL was a runner and (b) he lowered his head.

Both hits should have been personal fouls. Trevor had already gone out of bounds and he was diving and hence left his feet leaving him as a defenseless player. The tackler definitely had his helmet hit.

The way it’s getting called this year, absolutely should have been targeting.

Targeting have been extremely inconsistent in college football. Yesterday and last night I saw ejections that were correct and one that was not. However, there are more no calls than calls I believe. The refs are missing or ignoring a lot of calls.

almost impossible to enforce consistently as it is written, but in this case, was pretty simple.
