the best players on that poor defense left, what makes you think that the problems would be solved in a few games? And it wasn't a bowl game it was MOST every game of the 2nd half of the season. It was the bowl game where the defense just flat quit on their coach which should have been a sign to most people about how bad the situation was.
People shouldn't be looking for a quick fix. What you should be looking for is a defense that is playing much better at the end of the season than it did at the start and then you build off that.

and solid young coaches in the game, B) he was the best defensive coordinator in the best offensive conference in America, C) Steele's defense was figured out, D) Steele couldn't figure out the zone read or option if his life depended on it, E) Steele did not properly teach fundamentals, F) Steele's dismissal didn't hurt 'continuity', G) Steele's dismissal did not effect recruiting, not even a little bit.

give the guy a break. Not saying that he is the answer but as bad as we were last year on D it wasnt going to change overnight. Give him a few years to get his personal players in and then lets evaluate him. No Knee jerk reactions.

...including at Clemson? With the exception of our latest youth movement, our DL has been a strength. And I bet they'll be much improved before season's end. You think those guys have learned anything about coaching in their collective 40 years?
Trying to say Brooks and Hobby are bad coaches is one of the more ignorant things I've read here.
