Why was Omaha cancelled?

Many scientists have speculated this might blow over in 8 weeks when the spring starts, that would be late April. I see no reason a condensed ACC season couldn't be played with a tournament and still have the NCAA.
The whole idea of being in hiding can't last forever, our economy would collapse.

I agree. Cancelling basketball was one thing but completely throwing in the towel on baseball, softball, and other spring sports seemed very premature. Give it a few weeks before making that decision. I guess it is in stone now though? ??

Don't know why the decision was made so soon. I live in Lexington and 7 pm last night Ray Tanner held a press conference and said he and the other SEC AD's were holding teleconference about hopefully getting baseball and softball back going some time this spring... Seems odd they would say that when apparently this was announced 2 days ago.
Ok, spare me the jokes about coots and sec being clueless.... Please, tia.
It actually gave me some hope that there may be some sort of delay vs all out cancellation. Just seems you'd say something more along the lines of postponed.... Just like classes and school closings being postponed for 2 weeks.

How would you determine who goes to Omaha? The conference games have just started . If you don't play for 3 or 4 weeks, the best teams may not make it.

Many experts I have heard say this will last 3-6 months atleast. Who knows. I believe they should have only suspended the season for the time being and see what happens but a month off would effect the schedules too much maybe for them to have fair seedings with regionals.

THE WORST IS YET TO COME. if THIS THE "SECOND INNING', I HATE TO IMAGINE THE DISRUPTION IN OUR SOCIETY WHEN THE FIFTH AND SIXTH INNING COMES. Yep they could have at least waited a few more weeks. If it’s cool to start back just start back and play the rest of the scheduled games and finish the season. Make sure every team plays the same # of games and then have the Tournaments on the regular dates.
