Why not use the band practice field....
Mar 21, 2016, 1:28 PM

over off Perimeter Road behind the Brooks Center?
To my knowledge, the band only uses it for practice during football season, it's a regulation 120 yard field, and it's lighted.
Problem solved.

That would probably be a good solution, but I don't think the University allows that. I know they wouldn't when I was there, but we had a field then.

I suspect the problem is....
Mar 21, 2016, 1:39 PM

that rugby season is at the same time of year the band is practicing for football. Otherwise, this area is effectively unused real estate.
If rugby season fell after football season ended, I don't think this would be a problem.

That is ridiculous. I love me some rugby and it is a great sport!!! Our boys should have a nice stadium just like the soccer team IMO. They did a heck of a job last year! This is a shame. Is this because of DR or is it higher up??

The football teams expansion kicked out the soccer team who's taking over the intramural fields. The problem is there's no where else to go on campus.

"Club" sport = no priority for the AD. Varsity sports need

their space...you know, the facilities war. Sucks for the rugby players, but not unexpected. Maybe they should petition to become a varsity sport?
We could just cancel construction of the new football complex and put rugby fields there?

So there is just no room on campus for a rugby field. GTFO. Im not sayin dont upgrade football but find a place for rugby dont just take their field and say haha screw you guys. I believe we can find a place for a nice rugby stadium. just my opinion

I don't think anybody is talking about building a stadium

It's simply a matter of providing a field for the team to practice and play home matches which is not an unreasonable request or expectation.

As long as the money is rolling Clemson could careless...
Mar 21, 2016, 3:02 PM

They have no problem screwing over and not appreciating fans that have donated anywhere between 20-50 years. So, unfortunately no matter how much of a fuss that gets raised Clemson will completely ignore the fans who complain about it to Clemson. Clemson no longer is an amateur sport Athletic Department, it's run exactly like a professional sports team.

Yet if they weren't making the progress and handling the change that comes with being a National Football Power in the current landscape...you'd find a way to complain about that too. SMH.

Everything I said is true. The AD acts in the manner of a professional sports team, it's no longer ran like an amateur sports organization. If I'm wrong disprove what I stated

The Administration needs to do more than just tell the Rugby Club they're out of luck. A few years ago the team had a national quarter final vs Navy that had to be played at Furman because they closed all fields due to rain. No help, just "sorry, not our problem." With some assistance from the University this could be a win for the University as a whole as well as the Rugby Club. That'd be nice.
Rugby alumni are working hard to build an endowment. Turning an already giving group away probably isn't the best plan. ¯\_(?)_/¯
