postponed (hopefully) or (worst case) canceled and it won't be a matter of player injuries or the field draining, but rather because of a public safety concern. Having 80-90,000 people leaving the stadium around midnight to hit the roads will not be in anybody's best interest Saturday night.
Hope I'm wrong about this, but that's my guess.

the weekend of hard rain. That is a pretty significant amount. Hydroplaning and fallen trees may very well be the norm in the area. That just would not be conducive to game day traffic and parking.

I want to see this game as badly as anybody, but that amount of water in a short period of time can be very scary.

It's a pretty serious situation.
