Why do our coaches insist on horizontal passes with Bryant?

Sep 8, 2018, 8:55 PM

His release is too slow. Every time we do those passes to the flat, our receiver either gets no yards (or loses yards), or gets nearly killed.

I rarely remember these plays working when Bryant is our QB.

I have no idea. Seems that a slant sends the same message and has the same BFOQs.

Thanks for bringing that up. If you have really listened to the coaches the past two years, they always say KB has made the passes they asked of him. He has a ceiling on what he can do. And they know it. Most of his vertical passes are over the head of the receivers, not by inches or feet but yards. They call plays according to his ability.
