Why do onside kicks, ALWAYS have to hit the ground first?

Jan 12, 2016, 1:26 AM

Ever notice when they have onside kicks, the kicker, makes the ball hit the ground first? That is for a reason! Someone pointed out that this was an illegal kick. Dabo noticed it. The refs didn't acknowledge it. They kicked the ball in the air to themselves........ They didn't kick the ball on the ground and let it bounce past ten yards. THIS WAS AN ILLEGAL PLAY! bama scored a touchdown from this play and they never would have had the ball. bama won by cheating. their whole championship is void.So congratulations bama, you cheated. you are the national champions of cheating. pat yourself on the back.

They don't, they only have to hit a player, the ground, a referee or anything AFTER IT PASSES 10 yards before the kicking team is allowed to touch it.

So the best coach in college football today designed aplay that even if successful was illegal.

YOu clearly do not know the rules of the game.

To late to do my own research but I don't think it has to hit the ground just easier to do it that way. You technically have to give receiving team a chance but there were no plyers that far over. I thought it was illegal also but from what I read it was not. I am sure we all will hear for sure soon. That did not cost us the game. Busted coverages and allowing a kick off return did. Those 2 things gave 21 points.
