Why are people acting like the "fumble" decided the game?

Dec 29, 2019, 4:14 PM

This play is talked about like it was the last play of the game. It happened about half way through the 3rd quarter if I remember correctly.

I personally was surprised they overturned it and thought it was so close that because it was ruled fumble on the field it would stay that way.

BUT there was still a quarter and a half to play, and that 1 play wouldn't have decided the entire game

Actually I actually thought that you could make a

case for forward progress being stopped more than you could for a fumble.

Folks say what they want because there’s no repercussions.

Agreed. I keep saying the same thing. It is not like the game plays out exactly the way it did after the play. It becomes a different game with different plays.

Guess what OSU is kicking the ball back to us. Who is to say we do not go right down and score to take the lead back. Then kick and Fields throws a pick on he side of the field. Then we score again.

Now if it happens inside like 2 minutes maybe there is an argument.

Because OSU was "drowning" at that time.

First, it must be nice to wrap up Ross before the catch. Next, when have you seen a ball moving away from the WR body before a DB swipe and that is considered possession. As Ross is trying to bring the ball in to his hip, the ball and hands then start moving away from body (then the swipe). While in slow-mo, it looks like great hands, it also showed the ball moving in the wrong direction before the swipe thus it looks more like a fluid drop in realtime.

Basically, the Refs were allowing the plays to continue (way it should be) rather than blowing it dead. Thus it was allowing for review by the booth so they could make the correct call. However, OSU was getting the "benefit of the on field call" and then complaining about not getting the booth's benefit. Afterall, the burden is on the both to overturn. It wasn't just the "fumble" but also Dobbins catch, targeting, etc as well. OSU was getting a LOT of "benefit" on the field and then want to complain when it is reviewed with more time etc by the booth.

doesn't matter when it happened anyway

same value no matter when. Just one thing in thousands that made up the composite.

Ask Ryan Day. He started the talks about “bad calls” right after the game.

I agree with you that it didn’t decide the game, but if the situation was reversed tnet would be in a meltdown right now. All the normals would be creating thread after thread about how that play cost us the game. It would be an all out ##### fest.

And they'd be wrong just as the OSU whiners are. The correct call was made.
