Why are cops trained to stand in front of suspects cars

Jun 20, 2020, 12:30 PM

1. A human body won’t slow down a car
2. Good chance of getting run over
3. Good chance of eventually shooting somebody if they try to move the car (regardless of speed)

If cops were good at marksmanship, they would shoot out the tires first, then hit the gas cap cover and blow it up like the movies.

SC has done away with training officers to stand in front of vehicles.

Good. How long ago was that?

Kid was shot in Columbia in 2017 as he tried to slowly drive around a cop. Officer kept getting in his way, then eventually unloaded 7 shots on him while standing next to car.

Also crazy how many of those shots missed the target from point blank range.

Cop claimed he barely got out of the way as driver tried to hit him.

someone driving a ton and half automobile at another man is unarmed. I quit reading there and I would have shot the motherfuker in the head had he driven a car at me.

WTPH is wrong with YOU PEOPLE?

Apparently you don’t read anymore.

If the cop doesn’t stand in front of the car, he won’t be putting himself at risk. Especially in the large # of cases where the driver is trying to avoid them.

It makes sense if a driver is actively aiming towards a cop and he has to defend himself. That is often not the case. Hence why they are changing training.
