Why TL should start against GT

Sep 18, 2018, 11:44 PM

Arrrgh - another QB post. :)

GT is a run-heavy offense, so there is no way GT can practice against a really good passing attack. They just don't have the talent to do that, and it simply is not their style. With TL being the obvious pass threat, he should get the most reps to carve up the GT secondary. Even Chase Brice should get some serious PT in this game and pass the ball a lot. Once we get a huge lead, then KB should come in and run clock with the O.

Okay - it won't happen, but it should.

just a point, the last 2 years, passing is what beat them the most dominant...will be interesting to see if that holds true this one and if both can hold their part.

Exactly. plus

Bryant has been the starter and has done nothing to lose his job nor has Trevor beat him outright.

The staff needs to pick a starter soon and quit playing musical chairs at QB or it’s going to cost us a loss. We currently have no consistency or identity on offense, nor will we until one QB is getting most of the reps in practice and the game.

I see what youre saying, but is it possible

to have both players to bring a different identity and consistency? Kelley runs better than Trevor. He buys yards and first downs in that manner in addition to passing for a high percentage. Or we could throw in more of a vertical passing threat, with minimal rushing from the QB.

It may or may not be ideal but i think either one could function well within any game, depending on what the opponent wants to do and their strongsuit.

Starting TL16 in the 2nd half at A&M almost got us beat. This offense needs a leader and right now it doesn’t have one. The NCAA only allows 20 hours a week for practice and the game, so that’s not a lot of time to get two QB ready.

Not really a fair comparison between TAM and GT as TAM has way more talent on D. TL can hit our receivers without getting a lot of pressure from GT. We could score 35 in the first half alone, or maybe more if Dabo leaves TL in the game.

If that was what should happen our coaches would do it bud.
