Who's gonna be next HC at Texas

Nov 21, 2016, 7:31 AM

Do you think they would offer the Chad?

They obviously covet Hermann from Houston and I believe he gets the job if he wants it .
I would say that Morris is on the list but I think Chad might end up at Baylor .

That maybe but Chad does not have a good head coaching resume. Good OC but has a losing record as a Head Coach.

You cannot go to a crappy school and have a winning record after one year dude. He has made SMU better already.

I think Putrino would be a better fit for Baylor... after all, he's already a scumbag...

Doubt Chad gets considered at Texas, but I could definitely see him getting a look from Baylor. And if either GT or NC State open up they would be smart to go after him as much as I would hate it. And Texas Tech might be getting sick of Kingsbury's awful D, and he was right there for that job.

Chad stays in TX

Nov 21, 2016, 8:15 AM

...probably at SMU. Not sure he's done enough (yet) to go elsewhere, but in any event he's not leaving the state of TX.

Chad's stock will continue to rise. A&M bound eventually.

Nov 21, 2016, 9:19 AM

Chad is still laying the foundation but there is definite progress:

2014: 1-11 (Pre-Chad year)
2015: 2-10
2016: 5-7 (likely as Navy is final game but is in Dallas so who knows)

I've watched about half their games and they are becoming much more consistent (especially on defense - the exception being the Memphis beatdown). Was very impressed with them against a now 9-2 USF team with a nationally top 10 offense. Folks in Dallas can see the results and are happy with him and I think he is very confident he made the right decision to take the job when he did. That program is on an upward trajectory.

My guess is that Chad will stay put at SMU and work towards capturing a few AAC championships. When Sumlin moves on from Texas A&M, Chad will have the resume to make the big donor's happy.

I think Les Miles would do well there.

Nov 21, 2016, 8:32 AM

But it ain't going to happen. They may offer the farm to Dabo.

Strong is about to hold a press conference any minute now.

If they have to drill some new oil wells to do it, they get

Nov 21, 2016, 12:27 PM

Tom Herman. I think the only reason he didn't take a high profile job last year is he was "betting" that the Texas job was going to open up. Whatever the buyout is on Strong's end, and Herman's end, Texas will pay. ESPN will probably do it for them, so that they can start having some decent content on the Longhorn Network.

The Chad has always been in A&M's camp a lot more than Texas.

Sumlin might make it one more year, but he'd durn well better win or he's gone and The Chad is in there at A&M.

Very much doubt Morris would touch the Baylor gig right now. It's poisoned in ten different ways and they're going to have trouble getting any kind of name in there.
