Does anyone really think that Bama

Nov 2, 2018, 12:43 PM

Gets in at 11-1 with no sec championship over a 12-1 B1G or Big12 champ?

I keep hearing every day how Bama is a lock and in with it without a loss....I think those people were not fully aware of how they got in last year. It wasn’t because they are Bama and just get a free pass.

I’d also add ND in the mix. Undefeated, their in over a 1 loss Bama. Guaranteed.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Who would you have put ahead of them last year?

Nov 2, 2018, 12:51 PM

Let me guess. Ohio State? What a joke.

True, as long as one of those champions doesn't blow it.

If Michigan wins out they will be in good position. if Ohio state somehow beats them in the conference championship it gives Bama exactly what they need to slip in again.

Last year OSU was left out because they were blown out at Iowa. This year it's Purdue.

Nov 2, 2018, 12:59 PM

WRONG. Ohio state got left out because they got blown out at Iowa AND lost to Oklahoma. If they had only lost 1, they’d have been in 100%. The committee even said it was a razor thin margin between them even with the 2 loss’. That’s how much they like Conference champions.

This year it’s different. It’s pretty likely that you have a 1 loss B1G and Big12 champ. I don’t know why people can’t see that Bama won’t get in if that’s the case.

If Bama loses tomorrow night they better hope that mich beats PSU, OSU beats much abs loses the champ game, and that ND loses.

ok WRONG.. LOL

I heard a looot of talk about the blowout loss was what kept them out. I'm glad you work for the committee and can tell us the real deal.

The loss to OK was forgivable. I feel like the conference championship trumps one of those losses. The manner in which they lost was unforgivable.

No, Bama got in fairly last year to me. Had no problem with it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes if that 12-1 team is Ohio State. No if it's Michigan.***

Ohio State had TWO losses in '17 - Okllahoma and Iowa.***

No

A 1-loss conference champion will get in before a 1-loss non-conference-champion 100% of the time. Also, ND getting in will prevent any conference from having 2 in the CFP.

Not that it'll matter. Bama will cakewalk through their regular season and end up at 14-0 playing a 14-0 Clemson team for the natty and bragging rights to the first ever 15-0 season.

None of us can say what will happen, but I do have an opinion on what should happen.

Here it goes...
If Lsu beats Bama and then wins out- Lsu should be in.
Same goes for Ga- win out and you're in.

Clemson wins out, yes they should be in.
If OSU or Mich wins out, finishing 12-1. They should get in.

Same goes for Wva or Okla.

In that situation. Even if Bama finishes, 11-1- But does NOT
make the SEC championship. THEY SHOULD NOT....NOT get into the
playoffs.

Not not so yes?

Well obviously it depends on a lot of peripheral (yet very possible) scenarios. Consider the following if LSU pulls it off, which they wont:

Clemson wins out (ACC champ)
ND wins out
Michigan wins out (B1G champ) or same for OSU
Oklahoma wins out (Big 12 champ)

leaving..

1. Clemson
2. LSU
3. ND
4. I don't think they put a one loss, no conference champ Bama over 1-loss B1G winner AND 1-loss Big 12 winner.

Re: Does anyone really think that Bama

I think Bama makes it even with a loss, but mainly because I don't expect the Big 12 to have any 1-loss teams (they always beat up on each other at the end of the year, and OU/WVU will likely have to play each other in back to back weeks).

I expect ND to drop one. If not this week to NW, then probably in two weeks against Cuse... or even USC could pull an upset to end the year.

OSU or Michigan might win out, but I'm not holding my breath.

The pressure is starting to build on these remaining undefeated teams. It gets more and more difficult each week to overcome that pressure and win.

Re: Does anyone really think that Bama

Nov 2, 2018, 4:43 PM

Correct. If they lose to LSU they will still be in the playoffs IF.... 2 of the following lose 1 more game this season: Clemson, ND, LSU/Georgia (not to each other in the SEC champ), Oklahoma, Michigan.

If 4 of those teams win out then Alabama will not make the playoffs with a loss this week. If you think 2 of those teams will drop another game this season then it would make sense to root for Bama tomorrow night.

And I agree with you, I think it's more probable that 2 of those teams lose a game, but to say Bama is getting in over a 1 loss Big10 champ just bc they're Bama is completely false.
