Who killed the grass at VT?

Nov 23, 2019, 4:34 PM

Georgia is playing in a tropical storm and even their grass is green

Best Is The Standard

It's probably Bermuda grass . . .

The temperatures have put it into dormancy . . . We are at the end of November and they are in the mountains . . . Temperatures are much cooler up there than down here . . . Even our field has been struggling this season

Looks as though they didn't overseed this fall or if they did it came in very spotty.

LOL... uga's field (and prob every "green" field outside of fla and Hawaii) is painted green right now. for whatever reason, VT has chosen not to paint their field.

This probably isn’t going to be a popular opinion, but in the colder environments I actually kind of like the look of a naturally browning field late in the season. It’s late in the year, it’s cold...that’s how the grass is supposed to look this time of year.

I agree. Makes it feel like good ‘ol traditional football*****

Just flipped over to the VT game. Wife says, that looks like a high school field. Turned the channel

Most athletic fields south of the "swamp" (Washington, DC) have hybrid Bermudagrass. It is a warm season grass and goes dormant when the weather gets cold (particularly night time temperatures). You basically have 3 choices ..... overseed with Ryegrass ..... paint it .... or just let it go brown.

The drawback to overseeding is that it retards the Bermudagrass when it tries to emerge in warm weather. However you can spray it out and kill it in the spring and since you are not using the field after the spring you will have all summer to get the Bermuda in good shape.

Georgia's grass has clearly been painted

Look at #1's jersey.

Did the coots play them up there?

Nov 23, 2019, 6:24 PM

If so, I bet they threw their urine-soaked surrender towels on the field.
