You’re telling me you expected all of these guys to have the year that they’ve had this year? Be honest. You can expect guys to improve, but these guys have generated an 18-4 season, and were picked to finish 13th in the ACC. Stuff like this doesn’t happen unless you have a few surprises.

if you had included Donte G, i would have picked him
always knew he had the talent... always wondered when/if he would show it consistently
but, no i am not surprised by any individual improvement, i am hugely and most pleasantly surprised by the team's improved performance in close games

two reasons why I left out Grantham 1: He was injured, so that would’ve left some confusion 2: I thought in the games he played it wasn’t even close. He was by far the biggest surprise

I thought we had a chance to be top 5 in the league for sure. I had and still have hopes to win the ACC.

That's a loaded question. Should have added a Poll. If I had to pick, I'd say Devoe. The man has shot lights out recently.

I'm really not surprised by either Mitchell or Reid. Thomas's emergence as a true rim protector has been the biggest surprise for me. I think the new assistant we brought in has really helped him there. Not a great leaped, but long arms, and his timing is greatly improved

this team doesn't seem to quit and much of that credit should go to CBB - start to finish, putting the pieces together and making them go this year.
theBrad's been skrong.

Gabe Devoe by a fair margin ... he's one of the most

improved Clemson players ever from his freshman to his senior year.
He had a reputation as a pure shooter out of high school, but he didn't show much of that the first couple of years. Last season he started to come on and this year he's been astounding.
On top of that he's become a more complete all-around player ... tough on defense, solid rebounder, and very good FT shooter.
All-in-all, Gabe has been the sort of player Clemson recruits so often. A guy who doesn't get much attention from the bigger schools, but who is coach-able and blooms into an All-ACC type of talent by the time his last year rolls around.
But, we can't win big with just guys like Gabe. We have to continue finding the strong immediate talents like Marquise Reed and Shelton Mitchell to blend in around developmental guys like Gabe Devoe.

Need someone to step up in close games and score. You can tell this team really enjoys playing together. When I went and saw them here in Charleston earlier in the year, you could tell they really like each other. After we had won, a few stayed around after the game to watch the Dayton game and they just seemed like a cohesive unit. Of course it helps to have the talent to go along with the unity.

They are playing like a "team", vs having one guy who does all the scoring and everybody else watch

I believe Gabe is more physical and can light it up from outside the arc. To me the biggest surprise.
