The Board of Trustees did Clemson Proud Today!

The Board of Trustees did Clemson proud today. They made a statement to the world, through two symbolic actions, that Clemson University will not tolerate systemic racism and is now a leader in trying to end this loathsome behavior. Anyone who supports Clemson from any perspective should share in feeling that pride.

Forget politics, name calling, the insatiable desire to post about not being a racist then following it up with 3 paragraphs proving the opposite……this is only about 2 very simple and basic guidelines we all know: “Love thy neighbor as thyself” and “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.

The BOT peeled the skin off today. There remains much work to do. If more institutions and businesses and groups and governments follow Clemson’s lead, we (and that is an holistic “we”) can start to eliminate some of the most basic injustices which unbelievably still exist such as housing discrimination, access to health care, unequal treatment in the criminal justice system, income inequality, etc.

Any CEO will say it is not what we did yesterday that matters, it is what are we going to do tomorrow? Clemson “stock”, which has taken an almost vertical trip up in the past few years, would have fallen out of the market if the BOT had NOT made their decisions today. Instead, our “stock” will continue that upward trend and the sky is the limit!

GO TIGERS!!!
