When Was The Last Time a Clemson Signee

Aug 23, 2019, 10:03 PM

did not qualify academically? I can't remember. Our recruiting practices appear to place a lot of emphasis on grades and by pass those who lack the potential to handle the academic side. Neither do we appear to go the "sign and place" routine.

According to the coots we simply pay the Headmasters, Principals, teachers, coaches and lunch ladies to fake the kids grades and voila!

Pretty sure we sent a quality player to Hargrave or one of the Prep schools like 4-6yrs ago, cant remember who though. Like Martavious Bryant, Shaq Lawson, Shaq Smith,?? Someone that was NFL caliber. I think the coaches are in tune enough and they send them to prep school prior to being DQ'd academically. But, Dabo stresses graduation and college experience that I'm sure he wants players who thrive in school as part of his bonuses are based on graduation rates, but we all know that the extra $100k he makes is nothing in comparison to his $9mil, he actually wants to better his young men and not just use their talents for gains

In my memory, there is, and never has been, a Clemson "signee" that has not qualified academically. However, education is not what it used to be, nor is the SAT "minimum" of 800(?) It often bothers me that many of our graduates can't speak in complete sentences, i.e.: the English language. (OK, I know a lot of what we hear is very conversational in interviews, etc., and that has nothing to do with the "written word" and is very off the cuff, as the spoken language is.) But c'mon...(?) Is "English 101" still a required class in any major? It used to be. I know I'm an old school curmudgeon (and don't even get me started on the social media thing!), but I'm proud to think and believe we sign and graduate players who demonstrate at least simple intelligence - some of them even acute intelligence - and I consider myself proud, fortunate, and especially privileged to have graduated Clemson University.

Go Tigers, Reign Supreme Alway!!!

Martavious Bryant and Shaq Lawson were the last ones to go to Hargrave.

Thanks. I had forgotten about them.
