When Fields left UGA for Ohio State I said...

Oct 1, 2019, 9:35 AM

It is quite possible that with Fields as QB:

1) Ohio State wins the national title

2) Fields wins the Heisman

I am a UGA fan, but I am also a realistic dawg fan.

A UGA defensive back got kicked out of Georgia and led Auburn to the national title game in 2013.

I’m beginning to think the Dawgs are cursed. Wait, no, UGA is cursed!

How many times has Georgia been “this close” to winning a national title but “found a way” to lose?

What a kick to the gut it would be if my prediction comes to fruition.

Georgia....

You could very well be correct. OSU has great players, but hasn’t had great QB play recently. When they get it, they are usually playing for titles.

Huh? Did you just not watch Haskins at all last year?

Oct 1, 2019, 9:41 AM

He was elite in CFB last year. The QB wasn't their problem. The defense was.

I guess we will find out soon, but the defense doesn't

appear to be a problem this year.

I'm pretty sure they hired a new D coordinator.

I didn't realize SCam Newton was a DB at Georgia before going to Florida, who knew! ¯\_(?)_/¯

He meant Nick Marshall lol.

Cam was 2010 (we played a close game at Auburn that year).

I can think of one time since 1980.

2012 and 2017

Oct 1, 2019, 9:43 AM

I don't think they "found a way to lose" though. Bama was flat out better in 2012 and probably better in 2017 as well.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

2017 yes, but 2012 ?!?!?!

Oct 1, 2019, 10:09 AM

Georgia had two losses that year (to uof5c and Bama in the SECCG).

Bama played LSU for the title.

Bama played LSU in 2011. 2012 Bama beat UGA in a close

Oct 1, 2019, 10:13 AM

SECCG and the winner (Bama) played ND in the title game and won like 42-14. Georgia almost certainly would've beaten that ND team.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Losing in the semi-finals is not playing for a Natty

Oct 1, 2019, 10:23 AM

So...2017 is their one since 1980.

He just said close to winning a natty and i think most

Oct 1, 2019, 2:52 PM

people believe they were close in 2012. They would've been a huge favorite over ND.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: He just said close to winning a natty and i think most

Oct 1, 2019, 7:59 PM

They weren’t that close though. Ohio state would have been in that NC game against Norte Dame (and also crushed them), but we’re on bowl probation that year, so bama got the spot. UGA was “close” by technicality. I regularly remind them of that when they try and claim they’ve been almost as close as Clemson.

That year was a free Natty for any of the top 5 teams. Whoever made it would have crushed ND.

You lost a good one. On a different note, maybe you guys should make your offense less predictable.

Re: When Fields left UGA for Ohio State I said...

Oct 1, 2019, 9:45 AM

An even bigger "kick in the gut" would be for UGA to play Ohio State in the CFP and lose to them because Fields has a great game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Soooooo true

Wisconsin sucks too. They almost lost to an atrocious

Oct 1, 2019, 10:11 AM

North Western team. I think Clemson, UGA, or Bama would mop the floor with Penn State or Ohio

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Wisconsin sucks too. They almost lost to an atrocious

Oct 1, 2019, 10:42 AM

Yes, they did but Wisconsin's defense is what kept them from losing. They may shut down OSU's offense. I am not sold on Nebraska so that game doesn't tell me anything about OSU.

Re: Wisconsin sucks too. They almost lost to an atrocious

Oct 1, 2019, 11:31 AM

Just playing devil’s advocate here, but if playing Nebraska at night on the road, or playing Wisconsin or Penn State tells you nothing about ohio state, what in the #### do the tigers playing our schedule tell you? If you’re not aware of the absolute dominance in every area of the game they’ve displayed, you’re just not watching football. If you’re saying that just because you hate the big10 or big12, just say so. Ohio State and Oklahoma are both absolutely elite, weather you care to admit it or not.

As I have posted before I question your "Bulldogness" for many reasons but that dang avatar gives it away ...

Who on TigerNet would have taken Fromm off of the field ... Fields was given more than ample opportunity to show what he had and failed to do so ...

With that in mind ... why would any coach take Fromm off of the field?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I heard

Oct 1, 2019, 10:41 AM

That UGAy has never lost a game, just the clock keeps running out. So I'm pretty sure they at least have a share of every national Championship in the last 150 years. Just what I heard so don't shoot the messenger.

Re: When Fields left UGA for Ohio State I said...

I'm still not understanding why he's even playing and not
sitting out this year. I understand he was a victim of racism,
but not understanding why that entitled him to immediate
eligibility. I suppose rules were made to be broken (ask UNC)
or arbitrarily enforced; his tight end teammate at UGA, Luke
Ford, was denied immediate eligibility after transferring to
Illinois so his sick grandad could see him play before he passed.

I know a coach (you may too), who replaced an entrenched starter at QB because a freshman gave them a better chance to win a National Championship. Some coaches are not that "smart".

Re: When Fields left UGA for Ohio State I said...

I know ... all too well, but when given the opportunity to show what he could do he did it. Fields did not show anything but his willingness to pull the ball down and run when forced out of the pocket.
