What's up with Simms?

Mar 5, 2020, 6:37 AM

He looks all-ACC for a couple of games and then puts up a couple of games where he only scores 5 or 6 points...NOT what you want/need from your best player & leader. I know he thinks he's a guard, but he needs to stay in the post to give us some sort of presence; even it is undersized. We already have a whole herd of smaller guys who can't shoot...need him to at least use the high post as a screen/roll guy or a passer for others cutting to the basket.

His roll as our "big man" has him out of position in a way it seems.

Strong forward is his ideal position to make use of his rebounding. Right now Clemson comes down and jacks a three and no juan crashes the boards. We get very few offensive rebounds each game.

I agree it seems that Clemson never gets an offensive rebound, however, I decided to look up the numbers in conference play. Clemson actually got more offensive rebounds than their opposition in 10 of their 19 conference games so far this year. They tied twice, and lost the offensive rebound count in 7 contests. I guess no one focuses on getting offensive rebounds any more!

We were not quite as good at winning the offensive rebound count in out-of-conference games this year. Clemson grabbed more offensive rebounds in 4 games, less in 5 games, and tied 1.

He is a kid. He has off games. Tonight was not his night from the point right after his first 3. The team shot poorly and played rough which magnifies if a key player has a ba night.

a lot of pushing and shoving under the rim got him into foul trouble and he sat most of the first half. Not his best night.
