What's the word on Muse? I assume he's playing football...

Feb 21, 2015, 2:38 PM

and if he does, is he planning on being a dual sport athlete? I really like this kids potential in BOTH sports. He'd make a nice compliment and subsequent replacement for Kearse...

No one know what he is gonna do till the MLB draft. Think he is looking for that big signing bonus.

Signing bonus money is so minimal. For a later round pick -- where he's projected -- the signing bonus will never exceed 1 million. That might seem like a lot, but it's not considering the crummy lifestyle minor leaguers live, and the fact that he's giving up a chance to go to college and develop in two sports AND get a degree. If baseball is where his heart is at, that's one thing, but waiting on signing bonus money? I wonder who is in this kids ear.

He will play football and baseball at Clemson he will not be a high MLB draft pick.

He hasn't made a decision yet but imo, it would be best for him to

Play football. I understand he is a takeover baseball player and has a chance to make alot of money but if you have a chance to play college football at a big time D1 school and get a degree you shouldn't pass that up. He will still have an opportunity to go into the MLB of college football doesnt work out. I really hope he decides to enroll at Clemson

Here is a breakdown of pick value for the draft. Essentially, if you don't go in the first 3 rounds, which he likely won't, the signing bonus is less than 500k. After tax, you can nearly slice that in half. So, is it worth giving up his prospects in football, enjoying the college lifestyle and degree, while also developing and improving his stock as a baseball player for less than 200k? Everyone has a different situation and different interests, but I would say, strictly from a business standpoint, it makes no sense.
