Let's clear the air here

Jul 6, 2020, 11:51 AM

and I believe I speak for all of the middle to upper class posters here (if not then correct me), but if it comes out that untreated plywood, used pallets, and Thompsons Water Sealer are used to make a deck, then it should rot in jail for the rest of their lives. within 1 calendar year.

Period.

What's the difference between FBCoach and a refrigerator?

Jul 6, 2020, 12:12 PM

A refrigerator doesn't fart when you take your meat out of it.

I saw a pallet porch down the road from me the other day

Jul 6, 2020, 12:10 PM

on a nice singlewide. I hadn't noticed it before, maybe it is new. I assume since it isn't rotting it is still within the 6 month lifespan.

Have you ever noticed the doublewide on Hwy. 5 as you're

headed to I-85 that had an above ground pool as you step out the front door? Not sure if it's there now, but it was for years.

Thread jack. So I'm gathering wood to build a planter for

Jul 6, 2020, 12:18 PM

wife. Found a design online and go to lowes to start buying wood. Notice just before walking in it says not to use treated lumber or it defeats the purpose of "organic". DubyaTF? I mean I found ceader that I can do for the sides, but the 4x4 posts...that #### only comes in treated (or at least that I've ever found). This #### gonna be outside all the time growing stuff. Why wouldn't you want treated lumber?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Because they don't know what they are talking about

Jul 6, 2020, 12:23 PM

the treated part of treated wood had arsenic in it (if you remember the old "green" treated lumber)

Now treated wood is treated with salt water. Nothing inorganic about it.

They're idiots.

Not sure about taking wood advice from FBcooch but I'll bite

Jul 6, 2020, 12:27 PM

So, this wood looka kinda green. But knowing the prop 65 world we live in, surely no one's treating with arsenic anymore right?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's right. They changed how they treated the wood

Jul 6, 2020, 12:31 PM

now light poles and stuff like that are still treated with some really nasty stuff.

But the wood you buy at lowes are salt treated. Still wouldn't roast marshmellows over it, but it's not the nasty cancer causing stuff that use to be in it.
