What value does Wake Forest add to the ACC?

We already own every NC market(no thanks to Wake), their athletic programs and facilities are embarrassing, and they are really just too small of an institution to be in a major Conference. ECU makes more sense than Wake at this point. What will it take for the ACC to send them packing to the SoCon?

They're competitive in most sports and very competitive in some.
I wouldnt read much into an opening Thursday. Just like I think it is stupid for folks to call a blowout over TAMU based on their performance last night.

It is a good thing you did not ask this prior to Dabo being hired, since Wake had won the ACC Championship more recently than CLEMSON had. And their golf program used to be exceptional I think (not a golfing fan, so dunno).
And I always thought Wake was a good academic school (not that some sports fans even give a rat's butt about academics), and academics are considered highly for ACC acceptance.

They’re a superb academic institution. They traditionally have had a good basketball program. They have one of the conferences two baseball titles. They’re a founding member of the conference. And they’re the only NC team to ever win the ACC championship game. Something they have done more times than Miami as well.
ECU to the ACC would never happen. Especially not at the expense of a founding member.

First there was a span there where they wear beating us. Second they have beautiful campus. Several years ago they upgraded their stadium and while small is quite nice. The fans of Wake have always been very gracious and welcoming.

We had to sweat out a Catman 43 yd field goal as time (sort of) expired, after he had missed a 30 yarder in his only previous attempt to squeak out a 31-28 win against the Weak Florists, reflective of Clemson Football.

Don’t forget what the actual point of universities is... to educate our future leaders. Wake is a great member of the ACC; and in almost all sports they are competitive, especially considering their student #s and academic standards.

It's a great road trip. Fairly short drive and there are always plenty of tickets available.
Small stadium with not really a bad seat in the house. There's normally as many Clemson fans as Wake fans at the game. And we are almost always guaranteed a win.
It's almost like another home game. Win win.

How about do some research, as I teach my students, before asking such a question. Your comments show your ignorance regarding Wake. This is a smaller private institution, but one highly respected, especially in medicine.
As already mentioned Wake has a better ACC record in championships than Usuck, and several other programs. Tradionally their basketball has been top notch. Baseball, soccer and lesser sports are very competitive, especially golf where they are nationally known.
They are a charter member who supported Clemson throughout our probation punishment against added conference sanctions in the 1980s so I have respect for the school.
Hope you better understand there is no comparison between ECU, despite your suggestion, and Wake Forest. ECU is right where it needs to be overall.

Back in the '80's, I had the same conversation with a WF grad because we routinely thumped them. Then came the TB years when we couldn't beat them consistently without Gaines Adams.
Remember, every team from the original ACC always has our game circled. We always get their best.

Wake is just fine. They've beaten us more than I care to remember.
There baseball facility is historical with the likes of Ernie Shore, Yastremski and Ruth having played games there.
Academics is close to ivy league instituions and their student athletes carry intense course work.
