Oct 17, 2018, 12:49 PM

Not Bang me but Bangor Maine. I have a free day next week and thought about driving up there to say I've been.

I hear the lobster is great

It's not my favorite spot in Maine. There's a casino and a riverfront park. Small downtown area.

SeaDog Brewing has a decent view on the river. Geogahan's has good wings. If you want seafood, there is a dive across the river called Eagles Nest.

For cities: Portland. It's very walkable with fun things to see and do and tons of great restaurants and breweries.

Outside of cities: Baxter State Park (where Katahdin is) and the surrounding towns are pretty cool. I went there in October a few years ago and it was so unlike the South. The scenery is incredible: lakes, fall trees, etc. It also feels almost abandoned when you get close to the park. I've never been to Acadia N.P. or the Bar Harbor area although I would like to. Heard great things about both.

I'll be in a Portland for a couple nights. Looks like the temps are not going to be good for walking around too much

Sunday I'll be in Acadia for the day. Imma give Bar Harbor a miss as I've been told its Myrtle Beach of the north.

Wow. I just looked at the weather and you are right about not walking around. It snowed the October I went to Bangor and the locals were surprised it hadn't snowed a lot earlier. I liked Marcy's Diner in Portland for a local breakfast. Portland Lobster Co. was good but it is mostly outdoor seating I think. Eventide was good but $$$$$.

A buddy recently went to Acadia. He recommended the Beehive trail if you like hiking.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We are most definitely into hiking

Oct 18, 2018, 7:39 AM

but I think the temps are keeps us from beeing out too much. We planned to hike so we're gonna play it by ear.

We're staying in Portland and Camden so I think being along the coast in 40 degree weather is going to be killer.
