That was some pretty cool coverage from the hotel room with Bernard Shaw, Peter Arnett and John Holliman. I still remember Shaw ducking for cover and strongly recommending the same to his buds who kept looking out the window in Baghdad.

My roommates and I did the same. CNN's only competition was the "SCUD Stud" Arthur Kent on NBC.

Also remember those days very well. My just after college roommate and I went to visit a fraternity brother that lived at Amelia Island that weekend. His parents had a house right on the beach. We also watched CNN, but we could a see the beach while we were watching TV. Never been more excited about America in my lifetime than I was watching what happened. George Bush the 1st was brilliant how he brought the whole world together against Iraq.

I really liked the first George Bush. I liked his son as well, but I felt like the father was more skilled than his son, and very unlucky. The economy just happened to take a downturn during his tenure, and I don’t think it was his fault.

In my humble opinion, I think the track of the economy is so complicated the presidents don’t influence it nearly as much as many think. Clinton benefited from Reagan defeating communism causing the economy to expand in my opinion, and Bush was at the tail end of Reagans long expansion and the economy hot potato happened to fall in his lap during his tenure.
