Could we have gotten him ?
Would we have wanted him ?
I certainly like how he piles up the wins ..... not sure about all the rest.

He is clearly a great coach.

I don't think he would be a good fit at Clemson in terms of academics, recruiting quality young men, etc. He had a 0% graduation rate for years at Cincy, and has historically relied heavily on partial qualifiers.
It would be nice to have someone with his coaching talents, however (the horrible end-of-game clock management we saw tonight notwithstanding).

quickly abandoned ship after signing a multi-year contract to take the job at his Alma mater. WVa is not reknowned for stringent academic requirements for prospective athletes, though they're supposed to adhere to NCAA guidelines. Thuggins has done worse than just walk in the gray area of NCAA rules during his career and, IMO, there is zero chance Clemson would even consider hiring this guy....
Btw---the assistant who took Thuggins' place at KSt was soon run off by their AD who couldn't stand him and wound up at usuck

Any thugs on his team....those early Cincy days are well behind him now....you're talking 15-20 yrs ago at this point.
There may be zero chance Clemson would ever consider him but I'm pretty certain there is a zero chance he'd consider Clemson.

Absolutely true--- I seriously doubt he'd ever leave WVa at this point and certainly not for Clemson.
But his reputation after cincy and KSt follows him yet
