What actually happens when there is a brokered convention?

Feb 22, 2020, 2:27 PM

I understand there is a rift but has it ever happened to know if it’s actually a bad thing? I’m curious as to who backs down and who leads the way in a situation like this or is a free for all.

I think the DNC has a ton of super delegates who...

if they vote in a block can choose the nominee. I'm not sure about it but I think there are like 800+ of these voters.

50 or 100k/ ? Easy $40-80M... Would be cheap comparably.***

Oh, it would be total chaos, especially with Bernie loonies

Delegates can vote how they want. Imagine Bloomberg money in that instance. Imagine if bloomy wins a brokered? Holy riots

There are just under 4000 pledge delegates that have to vote the way their state's primaries indicated and there are just under 800 superdelegates that are Democratic party representatives.

If the convention is brokered - that is if no one candidate wins a majority of the delegates, then on the second ballot all delegates can vote for whomever they choose. This can lead to lots of side deals and promises and - chaos.

That "majority" has been established at 1990... 1991 wins.***

It is the process where Establishment Democrats choose who they want to be the candidate, regardless of who the people of the democratic party have actually voted for.
