Christian Wilkins = William Perry??? I see some

Aug 5, 2015, 4:21 PM

similarities. I well remember the Fridge being very athletic for his size and chasing down opposing quarterbacks across the field. He didn't start as a freshman (I think William Devane did), but was a big contributor to our NC team. I expect the same from Christian.

Weren't 66 and 94 listed as co-starters?***

Yes they were...Perry was the most dominate of the two...I still remember Perry eating Dave Rimington lunch in the Orange Bowl his freshman year...as in National Championship .

Does he wear a size 23 ring?

Aug 5, 2015, 4:25 PM

It's important!

Agreed! I believe he was better than the perry brothers but did not have anyone around him that was like the Perrys did.

Good post and I agree 100%. If you watched Wilkens in the Armour All
All Star game you had to be excited about his Clemson future. Best I have seen in my 65 years of following football! Good coaching will make him a very wealthy guy in a few years.

After watching the Under Armour game, I couldn't

believe when he committed. He's the best I've seen in a long time and maybe the freshman I'm most looking forward to watching this year. Of course, it wouldn't break my heart if Ray-Ray ran back about four kickoff either.

Re: We'll be saying Wilkins name for many years to come

We will probably be comparing 2025 recruits to Wilkins. He has the potential to be one of the our best. However, as noted before, potential is the biggest burden.

How fast was Grady Jarret v. William Perry?***

Frig. was quick as a cat for the first few steps. His leg strength was unbelievable.
Just ask Dave Remington. Rarely did Frig. get pushed backwards.

William Perry was a freakish athlete. He even ran the 100m. In the low to mid 11s. That's more than fast for a man his size.Wilkins will be a great one.

Fridge would make Jarret look like he had thrown out anchor.

With all due respect to Wilkins (who I believe will be VERY good), the Fridge was a freak of nature the likes of which are extremely rare. I know upper classmen that were on the team at the time that he came in as a freshman. They were saying at the time that they had never seen a guy like him. If Wilkins approaches the legend of 66, It will a joy to watch him play.

All this said, I agree with another poster that compared him to Chester Mc. I believe he has more of that body type. Either way, I think CW will be special.

Hopefully Christian also wins a NC here

Aug 5, 2015, 5:03 PM

That would make the comparison fine by me

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wilkins can be a great one...also ver smart!..I remember..

Aug 5, 2015, 5:32 PM

that the coaches couldn't let Fridge practice in the Shine Bowl sessions because the QB did not have enough time to hand off there ball before he was getting hit.

Didn't The Fridge dunk the football over the goal posts??? I think I remember him doing that. That is an incredible feat.

I don't really see anyone equaling The Fridge's abilities in my lifetime.
