So sad. He was a great one. I have a friend who taught him and coached him in High School in Goldston, NC. When the Class celebrated it's 50th. Reunion, Charley bussed the entire group to Tennessee and hosted them for the weekend, including the Grand Ole Opry. During a Friday night dinner at Charlie's
home he asked my friend if he remembered who cleaned the gym. He said you and named three other boys. Charlie then reminded their coach that they had a key to the storage room where the candy, popcorn, and drinks were stored and that they occasionally treated themselves to a candy bar. Further, Charlie said their conscience had been bothering them for 50 years! Where upon he presented the old coach a box of 24 Hersey's Goodbar candy bars. Says a lot about Charlie. He never got above remembering his boyhood friends.

last 2 weeks, listening to his greatest hits CD several times. Grew up loving that about as much as Hank Williams Jr.
