Why would you do this Dabo ?

Do you really need an explanation at this point.

Its time for folks to quit messing with Dabo and whom he recruits or plays. Everytime and i mean EVERYTIME someone doubts Dabo it just blows up in their face and they have to eat crow. So welcome aboard Amir, and thanks for being ALL IN!!

Like Stoudt over Watson?***

Posted: Jan 4, 2015 7:09 PM

I'm quite certain CM had more to do with that then people

[1]
Posted: Jan 4, 2015 8:34 PM

admit. Part of the problem was CM trying to get a pocket passers-by with limited mobility to run an option game rather than changing the game plan to what said pocket passer was capable of. I kept saying he has the tools, and he does and would make a good NFL backup, but not the decision making capabilities of running an option.

when asked about Watson , Chad body language changes drastically and he begins the "paid his dues" babble that Dabo was spewing. Chad wanted Watson on the field and Dabo overrode his decision.

Once again you have no clue

[2]
Posted: Jan 5, 2015 10:32 AM

and while I like CM, he trained our current OC's for 4 years, he's no QB coach. Streeter proved he was a better QB coach in just a couple of weeks with Cole. That doesn't mean that Chad is not a great OC, he's just one that has to have a QB to fit his system.Even Boyd was going somewhere else each off season to get trained by other experts.

Re: I'm quite certain CM had more to do with that then people

Posted: Jan 5, 2015 10:26 AM

And if you doubt this, look what Cole did in the bowl game. CM might have been brilliant but he was also hard-headed.

Re: Like Stoudt over Watson?***

Posted: Jan 5, 2015 7:51 AM

I'm pretty sure Dabo recruited Watson. Am I wrong...did you recruit him? Dabo has a pretty recruiting record. I'd agree there are likely more highly rated players who would love the scholly, but I think I'll let Dabo do his job.

I wouldn't be surprised if that did take place. You may just get your wish.

He is James Trapp's son.

This why is getting the chance to greyshirt. James as all of you know, is a part of the program as the life coach (team pastor).

Just because he is somebody's son should mean nothing . Get the best players period . This is why we will be a good team not a great team

Its a greyshirt not a scholarship yet

I disagree with that also but at least they have some size and could develop into a good blocking fullback .

You are missing the point we shouldn't take the unranked and low rated guys that have dads that played or worked at Clemson . If we go out and scout a guy like grady and think he's good enough to play then I have no problem with guy them a scholarship .

All this bitchin and moanin is really stupid. Praise Dabo and staff for having the 4th ranked recruiting class. Get pissed at Dabo and staff for taking a legacy recruit who MAY turn out to be pretty good and productive in the end. #### and let the staff do their jobs without having to listen to all this whining. Some of you sound like a bunch of coots. Hint Hint.

There's a point here you are missing as well

[3]

It doesn't hurt to have a collection of NFL talent that continues to associate with the program after they have moved on. It's good for recruiting to be able to show off a cadre of former NFL players when recruits come to visit. This is a big picture type deal. It's part of selling the Clemson program as a "family" which so many of our elite recruits have pointed out as being a special factor about Clemson. So while it may look like we are doing James Trapp a favor, in reality this move is just as beneficial to Clemson as it is to the Trapp family.

there is a point of diminishing returns

Posted: Jan 5, 2015 10:12 AM

also and I think with the current recruiting atmosphere that Dabo will run headlong into that the 2016 class with D3 players taking scholarships from desparetly needed positions.

And say what you will about the wonderful players that have contributed to this most recent team, but guys like Grady and Cole are almost from a different era of CU football recruiting. We should be having to take less and less chances on recruits with this continued success.

Prop up the next strawman so I can put the torch to it as well.

who had been a Freshman All-American and was considered our best DE at the time.

And despite being behind Sapp and several other underclassmen as a reserve Branch still had the 4th most tackles for loss in the 2009 season as a sophomore.

But I forgot.....he didn't contribute until his junior year according to the self-appointed expert.

Re: He is James Trapp's son.

Posted: Jan 4, 2015 8:54 PM

Just because he's James Trapp son doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a scholarship. Plus he's from Daniel and Dabo wants to keep the flow of talent from Daniel to Clemson open. Trapp played in the Shrine bowl this year and surprised the coaches with his talent. It could turn out this kid is a steal, but we shouldn't take him because his dad works at Clemson? Sorry I can't wrap my mind around that logic.

Trap's always had a Greyshirt offer .Question was, would he take the full ride he had offered at other schools. This has nothing to do with Fields, the Bama Recruit calling our coaches or any other DB over out there. He start school next January, redshirt his freshman year and contribute his last 3 years on campus. Besides all this,he looked better than all the more highly rated DB's at the Shrine Bowl this year. Our coaches know how to recruit.

Better according to who?

Trapp can play. Great return man and capable corner.

His size and the fact that he had a legacy with Clemson made people believe he was all Clemson probably is why he didn't have bigger offers

We lose higher ranked players each year when they decide to transfer. We must backfill their spots with walk-on players. I doubt that Trapp will transfer with his family connections. Basically, he will be filling one of the scholarships that a walk-on would have.

no he is taking an Oline spot for 16***

Good thing players don't transfer after spring practice or anything.

So who does he play in front of

Posted: Jan 5, 2015 12:52 AM

in 2016? Jadar Johnson , Marcus Edmund, Ryan Carter , Adrian Baker or Kaleb Chalmers ?
Its the same lineup in 2017 so who does he jump ? I can promise you that he does'nt play against a D1 while he is here unless all of our starters are injured.

Re: The kid was a shrine bowler

Posted: Jan 4, 2015 6:18 PM

So a high ranked player transfer and you think we should use that scholarship on a walk on lol Why not get another high ranked player

Re: The kid was a shrine bowler

Posted: Jan 4, 2015 6:27 PM

Who takes the scholarship of the player when he transfers after spring practice? More talented players will be ahead of Trapp and he will more than likely stay due to his family connections. Therefore, you will not need to spend a scholarship on a walk-on. Trapp is way better than 99.9% of our current walk-on players.

He is a grey shirt not a walk on . He will get a scholarship this time next year instead of a high ranked player

Every year we take kids just to add depth at certain positions

Posted: Jan 4, 2015 6:39 PM

Also just because a kid is not highly rated, does not mean they can't play. This kid is underrated, and will be a solid backup in a few years and this is Dabo staying true to program being about family by bringing a legacy. This kind of thing happens alot, at almost every school so this not the first time Dabo has done this.

Re: 5 and 4 stars have a higher

Posted: Jan 4, 2015 7:33 PM

Those guys don't provide depth. They play or leave to play elsewhere. You need guys who are satisfied with playing a reserve role.

Re: 5 and 4 stars have a higher

Posted: Jan 4, 2015 7:36 PM

So let's not take 3 stars for depth we should instead take unranked players great .

Re: 5 and 4 stars have a higher

Posted: Jan 4, 2015 7:42 PM

Who are some of the 3 star players out there, who have strong enough ties to Clemson to keep them here regardless of playing time?

Re: 5 and 4 stars have a higher

Posted: Jan 4, 2015 7:44 PM

Are you blind check the roster out we have 3 star guys on the bench

We have walk-on players on scholarship as well.

Posted: Jan 4, 2015 8:00 PM

It's not because they are more talented than others that we signed. It's because others have decided to leave and freed up a scholarship for them. We will still sign enough 4 star guys to fill a two deep. Even 3 star guys (some not all) that are 3rd string will leave and walk-on players will take their scholarship. Trapp is more likely to stay and eliminate that one walk-on player scholarship. Trapp is better than your average walk-on.

hopefully he takes all Ryan Carters snaps***

Bama Fsu and others have 5 and 4 stars and the bench but hey let's take non ranked guys

Re: 5 and 4 stars have a higher

Posted: Jan 4, 2015 7:45 PM

I'm sure they do...right behind guys who were less thought of coming out of high school.

Re: 5 and 4 stars have a higher

Posted: Jan 4, 2015 7:47 PM

You are trying to justify these unranked guys by saying they provide depth when in fact they don't

Adam Humphries 2* and Amir Trapp 2* (Rivals)

Posted: Jan 4, 2015 7:52 PM

I'm not saying this kid will be all world, but the coaches know what they are doing. This kid would not have gotten the chance to greyshirt, if the coaches thought he couldn't contribute to the program in a positive way.

Re: Adam Humphries 2* and Amir Trapp 2* (Rivals)

Posted: Jan 4, 2015 7:55 PM

The only reason he will be playing at Clemson is because of his Dad . This isn't some unranked kid from South Dakota that we went out and found .

he wont be playing just absorbing

a scholly and money from the scholarship fund.

When did Humphries light the world on fire

as a punt returner or a wide receiver , I forget

Humphries was solid, caught a lot of passes and

held on to the ball. Long punt return against Louisville was crucial since we won by 6 points.

I agree. You don't offer scholarships to kids with limited talent or just because their father works at Clemson.

Re: The kid was a shrine bowler

Posted: Jan 4, 2015 6:43 PM

Higher ranked players don't provide depth when they leave because they're 3rd string. Trapp will be less willing to leave if he is 3rd string. He is much better than any walk-on that would take the scholarship of the higher ranked player who leaves after spring.

schollies. Dabo has basically just self imposed probation on us. The last time USuC got busted they lost three schollies per year for three years. Dabo just topped that. We're losing three schollies for 4-5 years on these guys who will NEVER see the field. They arent even worthy of practice squad tackling dummies. Add in Ryan Carter and that's 4 wasted schollies.

Said by who? Not me, Humph was a legit mid tier recruit

maybe we only took him to get in better with Peake, but he wouldve been an ACC player either way. But nobody can deny the davis twins are wasted schollies. They arent even rated theyre so bad. Same as this Trapp kid. If they want to come to Clemson, let them walk-on and see if they can EARN a scholly. Their parents certainly have more than enough money to pay the instate tuition price. We dont need to handicap ourselves as a program by throwing away 4+ schollies for 4-5 years. Thats worse than an NCAA self-imposed probation.

No, whats worse is having a Tiger pulse of 34% when you claim to be a tiger fan and trying to tell our staff how to find and develop talent. These type of players are needed in every program. The kid is fast, does cover and is not yet PROMISED a scholarship. Get over it.

Dj Greenlee , Ryan Carter , JD Davis , Judah Davis , Amir Trapp and Zach Riggs will never crack 200 snaps a piece and possibly combined .

AllTimeClemson - doubt if you could identify a good foot....

ball player if they were standing next to a bread basket. So what if these guys never hit the field in a game - and that is something you have no idea whether they will do or not. They can contribute in so many other ways, even if they are scout team players. If you think recruiting football players is scanning through some recruiting magazine and counting stars, then your team would be like Miami and Florida State several years back when it appeared that is how they were selecting football players to recruit.

He started every game in Div 1 college football, and according to the experts in here he was a wasted scholly, used to get Peake, not sure what Dabo saw in him, the same #### opinions that are posted today about Trapp. Since Dabo has been there 4 straight 10 win seasons and BCS game, numerous guys graduating college and even some going to the NFL. I Trust in Dabo and people need to quit bad mouthing a kid hasnt even stepped foot on campus

Basically AllTimeClemson is just one of the butthurt fans(?) that can't accept that the school didn't ask them who to hire. Dabo could win the national championship 10 years in a row and these losers would still find something to gripe about.
