Brownell doesn’t do things that way. He was disgusted once he found out Smith was saying such things behind his back.
Smith would’ve been fired whether he said anything about football or not.

is the only reason Zion chose Duke over Clemson. There are many reasons one would choose Duke in that situation. The chance to play for a national title, Coach K, tradition, better game atmospheres, more exposure for one with an opportunity to establish their own brand before heading into the NBA, etc.
I'm sure a 5 figure payout of whatever would be nice, especially for his family, but the kid was months away from becoming a millionaire and almost nothing was going to derail that. In the end, the payout from Duke (assuming there was one) will be chump change. He's already signed a $75 million shoe deal!

that Zion's mother and step-father were shopping their son to the highest bidder. Neither were shy about discussing it openly and publicly. Nike was flying them all over the country in a private jet to watch Duke play. Of course, Duke and Coach K will deny any knowledge or involvement which is a total lie.
