why do we insist on putting them on huge cards?
We've gotten a little too fancy, and it's come back to bite us, IMHO.

Exactly right. That's why "Auctioneering 101" is a required course for football players. Gotta be able to get those signals quickly when the play clock is running.

You do understand that purpose of the cards and pictures is simply a distraction and to cover our hand signalers from the press box. The Hand Signalers are sending the plays in.
