Looking at recruiting star info for the Wake Forest football team - which may or may not mean much - the team's average player star rating according to 247 Composite data for the 2015 - 2018 recruiting cycles is 2.9. Interestingly this is the same value as calculated for Georgia Tech and Syracuse and compares with Clemson's average value of 3.7. The average recruiting rank for Wake of 60 is close to that of our recent two opponents vs Clemson's average rank of 11. An interesting note is their talented WR Greg Dortch was rated a 2* out of high school. Of course we've had our share of excellent 2* performers also.
For grins and giggles I looked at Texas A&M's star values. They are much closer to Clemson's numbers. Texas A&M's average recruiting rank for the four years was 15 vs our 11 and average player star value was 3.4 vs our 3.7. So - plenty of talent on the A&M team - at least as measured by star value!
It's a little bit of the stars , a little bit of the person behind the uniform and a whole lot of the guys that are responsible for development on the college level . Dabo and his staff have been masterful at evaluating and then developing the kids that signed with Clemson .
