Finally getting some respect from the pollsters. We are ranked ahead of Duke. Virginia is the only ACC team above us.

We were #2 back in 1996 or 1997. I don't remember who was #1 but there's a good chance we were ahead of both UNC and Duke back then in a few polls.

To me, that was probably the second best crowd ever in LJ behind only the 13K+ that were there when we beat #1 Duke in 1980.

Clemson was #2 in one poll, and Wake was #2 in the other poll. I was at the game we played each other after camping out for tickets.

It's probably happened at some other point as well, but Clemson was ranked as high as #2 in either 97 or 98 before losing to a Tim Duncan led Wake Forest team. That was the year Clemson made the sweet 16 and lost in double overtime to Minnesota. I'm not sure who the #1 team was that week, but Clemson was probably the highest ranked ACC team for that week.

Michigan State and they just beat Purdue on the road last week. They are also 4 spots above us in Kenpom. It's not really an outrage that they are ranked ahead of us. We beat them 2 1/2 months ago and they've been playing really well since then.
