include the years 1902, 1906, 1908, 1910, 1911, 1912, 1913, 1915, 1919, 1920, 1921, 1927, 1930, 1931, 1933, 1941, 1942, 1945, 1946, 1948, 1959, 1966, 1968, 1971, 1976, 1978, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1997, 2002, 2004, 2007, 2012, 2017, and 2018.
That just barely edges out Alabama's 13 national Championships by a scant 24 trophies, for a comparison of 37-13. The new criteria include years where the Dogs "looked good" or lost no more than 2 games, even in seasons where only 3 games might have been played.

UGA's only losses in 1981 were to #1 Clemson and #2 Pitt... they'd be undefeated if they didn't have to play those two games so I think there's some legitimacy here

In their 2017 media guide, UGA literally said they believe they should be considered the 1981 champions because "they were really good". They were, but they werent champions.
They basically wrote something to the effect of "Well yeah, we lost to Clemson who went undefeated and was named the consensus national champion in every single poll, but we were really good and we think we deserved the title more than they did in 1981."
Honestly, I think there should be a crackdown on all these claims of false titles. UGA has one. Alabama has 9. Its a lie they keep being allowed to perpetuate and it impacts their recruiting. Companies cant lie about their products to generate sales, College teams shouldnt be allowed to lie about their successes to improve recruiting or revenue either.

No, their claim is valid. I'm assuming that they were referring to the Recruiting Championship.
PS: I think we had 23 players from that team that went on to play professional football.

UGA played 5 non-FBS schools this year. That is more than any other D1 FBS school. UGA played a record number of cupcakes for the 2018 season.
