SEC because they burned bridges on their way out of the ACC in the 70's. They believe they are elite but history teaches us - by looking at their season winning totals, bowl games, and conference titles - that they are no better than many of the teams in the mid and lower tier of the ACC. Their fans stay disappointed most seasons because they have lost touch will reality -- mainly because of a 5 year period of SEC success which was a fluke helped by UGA, Florida, and TN being down at the time. They should be in the ACC because it is a better fit for them but they really screwed themselves on leaving the ACC. That is reality and that is all.
My team is Clemson and other than stating the facts I have no other comment. Go Tigers!!!

I wouldn't call them a "mid-level ACC team"! Not at all. Not this year or any. Their record versus many of the schools in the ACC is below .500.
They are 0 for their last 3 against ACC opponents!

Head to Head 28-26 coots
Alltime wins. 610 coots
605 NCSU
coots have better history than Duke or Wake, maybe UL, can’t remember now.
Not UNC, UVA, VaTech, Miami, FSU, GaTach, Syracuse, BC, Pitt and certainly not Clemson
Just keep it simple. coots are nobody.

If uof5c rejoined the ACC tomorrow, they would rank 16th out of 17 teams academically.
Athletically, everyone knows they're not that much better if better at all.
