TigerNet Bowl Projection for Clemson:

Oct 29, 2013, 11:40 AM

Belk Bowl.

Or, why should we even bother showing up for a bowl when we won't be focused or not lazy and probably lose anyway...

Orange bowl gets first pick this year. why in hell would they pick UCF? Some of these news outlets don't pay attention to detail.

If my memory serves me correctly, the AAC is an automatic qualifier. UCF is in the AAC and a Florida team so why wouldnt they pick them?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

because the money is in TV ratings...how many people

Oct 29, 2013, 12:10 PM

want to watch UCF on a national scale?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

UCF is a HUGE school, at around 60k enrollments

Oct 29, 2013, 1:18 PM

There are a ton of UCF alums out there. And while they haven't been playing football nearly as long as us, they've been growing that fanbase rapidly due to their sheer size.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Commuter school ...

Oct 29, 2013, 3:35 PM

Huge enrollment, but majority are commuters. Their football stadium is still extremely tiny compared to overall enrollment.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Alumni finance programs. With South Florida down, they're

Oct 29, 2013, 3:49 PM

well positioned in the center of Florida. I expect their program to continue to rise. The big three will still take the bulk, but they will get their share.

Re: Alumni finance programs. With South Florida down, they're

Oct 29, 2013, 7:58 PM

I agree to a certain extent. Central Florida is certainly in a great location. But, kids who get their degree as commuters do not develop as strong a tie for the extra-curricular activities at a school. For this reason, I think UCF is still a long way from having a strong alumni financial base for athletics.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

if all a BCS game can draw are alumni, then the game is

Oct 30, 2013, 9:58 AM [ in reply to UCF is a HUGE school, at around 60k enrollments ]

going to have terrible ratings. They will choose the best matchup to get the most viewers regardless of how big the alumni base is. That might be a small consideration, but not the main one.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Hmmm: Interesting...

Oct 29, 2013, 11:43 AM

They have us in the Orange (subbing for FSU) yet have the Capons in the Sugar.

So ... apparently they have us losing to UCS in the finale, but being the least odious fill-in for the Orange?

badge-donor-20yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-revdodd.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

agree....loser of CLEMSON/usc is not BCS bound.***

I think they might have to take UCF because of the tie in

Oct 29, 2013, 11:44 AM

We would be the at-large and high pick

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I think they might have to take UCF because of the tie in

Oct 29, 2013, 11:53 AM

No, the tie in is that UCF would simply get to go to a bowl not an Orange tie in. Orange has first pick so they don't have to choose UCF.

Re: I think they might have to take UCF because of the tie in

Oct 29, 2013, 2:59 PM

They have the first chose if one of the Tie-Ins ACC/AAC one of their schools makes the BCS NCG. If that doesn't happen then the AAC Champ plays the ACC Champ. If FSU wins out and is in that #1 or #2 spot the Orange has first At-Large bid selection.....

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

AAC does not have a designated bowl.

Oct 29, 2013, 3:43 PM

They are guaranteed a team in the BCS but not to a specific bowl. This change was made a few years ago when it was still the Big East.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Where do you think UCF is dummy?

Oct 29, 2013, 11:45 AM

If you had a bowl would you want to pick a team up north or west? You have a better shot at filling seats with a team in your back yard!

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Where do you think UCF is dummy? Its near Clemson

Oct 29, 2013, 11:57 AM

just over in Central isnt it? :)

Re: Where do you think UCF is dummy?

Oct 29, 2013, 12:08 PM [ in reply to Where do you think UCF is dummy? ]

I would pick a game that pulls both fans and ratings. Clemson/UCF ain't that game.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Bowls generally not that interested in day-tripper fans ...

Oct 29, 2013, 3:41 PM [ in reply to Where do you think UCF is dummy? ]

Clemson vs "fill in the blank" would be more attractive to the Orange Bowl and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce than UCF.

The vast majority of the huge UCF student body are commuters. Their stadium is very small.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

UCF is in the AAC which is still an AQ conference

Oct 29, 2013, 12:01 PM

Unless I'm mistaken the AAC and the ACC represtentive play in the orange bowl unless one of them plays in the MNC. Kind of like the Rose Bowl always has Big Ten and PAC-12.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: UCF is in the AAC which is still an AQ conference

Oct 29, 2013, 12:08 PM

Not true....AAC only gets an AQ to A bowl, not the orange bowl.

Same reason Lousiville didn't play in the Orange last year.

south carolina is the sugar bowl

Oct 29, 2013, 12:22 PM

If we make the Orange Bowl I assume they are picking us to beat south Carolina. If hey make the SEC title game after losing to us they will end up with 4 losses. How would a 4 loss team ever make a BCS at large?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Maybe they think we will lose to SC (ugh)

Oct 29, 2013, 1:56 PM

and that we'll still be ranked in the Top 14 or whatever it has to be for the invite. In that scenario, there'd probably be other slightly more deserving teams but with our fan support and what not, we could still make a good case.

Rather just beat SC tho

Sporting News hates Clemson just like everybody else

Oct 29, 2013, 2:03 PM

My cat is soaked from all the crying I've done on her belly. So what if they have Clemson going to the Orange. They have us against UCF. The hate is getting to be too much for me. Oh deer!

Jessie Palmer and Ed Cunningham probably moonlight on their staff.

I would rather play UCF than Northern Illinois!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That'd be great... I know a lot here would rather

Oct 30, 2013, 3:55 PM

have the Sugar Bowl so that we an play a "bigger name" team but any BCS bowl invite would be monumentally awesome.

Plus going back to the Orange Bowl gives us the chance to win and kill those West Virginia memories
